Stumped on Background issues.

I see many people have asked How do i add full background color or image and I also am wondering how this is done. All the questions that I've searched with the keyword "backgrounds" have been the same and answered with the same response of " this can not be done at this time" so my question is, if that is the case than how does this site ( ) and many others I've seen do it?

We used one of the design styles that was offered, and I can understand that it may not support the full background capability, but some of the other members sites look they they were made by using something else because many of them have full backgrounds.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

My 10 yr old daughter and I, are trying to learn how to build a website together, and this really has us stumped.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Eric

While we don't have the ability to change the background image, many of our styles do allow you to change the banner image. The site you linked to is an example of one such style. The person is using the style called "Evergreen" and they have uploaded their own banner image. I see you are also making use of one such style and have uploaded a banner image.

SynthaSite offers a selection of styles that allow you to change the banner image. If the banner image can be changed, you will see a white box with an instruction placed over the default banner image.

To change the banner image:
1. Click on the white instruction box that says "click here to change banner image"
2. The file manager will open up that will allow you to browse your computer for a picture to upload
3. When you are done, click "ok" and your own image will replace the default image
4. If the dimensions are not quite right you can fix this by choosing the "edit with Picnik" option in the file manager. Picnik is a web-based image manipulation tool that has an option for you to resize your image. When you are done, click "save to SynthaSite" and the new image will replace the old one.

Please note that the white instruction box will only appear in editing mode, and will disappear when you preview or publish your site. Also, you may use the default banner image if you wish.

You have a great looking website. I hope soon we will release new styles that give more customization options.

Hi there, Eric.

I changed my background through clicking on the icon banner at the top of the page. You'll notice that it will say, "Click here to change this banner. Recommended image dimensions: 750p x 200p"

Click onto that banner and your file manager will pop up allowing for you to upload an image that you can then save as your background. Hope this helps. Let me know if it doesn't.
