Style Change Option flawed

I am new to Yola. I was referred by a colleague of mine to explore your website builder after having experienced problems with another company that I have been working with for over three years.

After reviewing this website template builder for the past few days, I noticed ONE SERIOUS problem: YOU can't preview a new style for your website without having your entire website disappear inside the builder that you have already published.

This is quite scary. I actually published my first website template by using your category wizard. I picked health and fitness. When I went to see if I would like a different style, I am unable now to get back my original work that is published.

Customers should be able to look and see how different styles would appear on their website and have it default to their originally published website with ease. All other website builders allow you to do this!

PLEASE look into changing this. If I had spent months on my website only to find out that trying out different styles would cause me to redo my website, I would have been really upset. I saw this happened to another customer here when I researched the posts from the UK!

This is something I hope that Yola can look at in time.

You can recover your first style by re-selecting it again as a new style. You will lose custom banners and backgrounds. Content will display.

Unfortunately, this is a huge problem. If it weren't, I would have both my websites on the Silver plan and my clients transitioned to Yola as well. I am going to have to pass on Yola. Just disappointing because it is such a wonderful builder in so many aspects with exceptional tutorials!

Hello Kim

When you choose a different Style for your Yola website, you are able to preview your site in a Preview window before you apply it. Once you choose it, it will be applied to your site in the Sitebuilder. But this doesn't change the content of your website at all. It may only change the layout of your site elements, though.

You can always change back to the Style that you had previously, and your site elements should show up as before. If you want to change back to the Style you got from the Wizard, you can change back to this Style using the Style selector (Style > Change Style). The name of the Style is Simple Frame, and you can find it under the Free Styles.

What you don't get back is default pictures and texts, but we presume that users will not want to have default pictures and texts on their site, but rather their own.

Or didn't I get what you were saying and there is anything else you struggle to restore?

I did exactly this but my original style is no longer there! My original style was "Clean Slate Hesian"

Woe is me.

John.

Hello John

Yes, it is still there. Please click on "Style" in the lower menu bar in your Yola Sitebuilder. Then click on the "Free" tab. Scroll to the "CleanSlate" Style and hover over the little coloured squares on the right of the thumbnail. The second last will be CleanSlate Hessian (wait for the bubble text to come up). Click on it to change back to your previous Style.

Also, we have improved this feature. Your banners and backgrounds should now come up as before if this is the previous Style you used.

Please let us know if this doesn't solve your problem.
