Style Designer does not work!

Hi Yola team,

Your recently added style designer is not working properly for my website. I tried to alter the font of the main header for a page and when I select anything it makes the top half of the page go all funny. Then, after saving a font, although the page goes back to normal after reloading it, the font does not change! None of the other font features work either.

I would really like to alter the header to match the 80s feel of my website http://www.simplyeighties.com. I've tried adding a True Type font but this does not work in Internet Explorer, so there is little point in adding one. I feel annoyed because I am unable to create a professional looking header which is a major part of the overall design.

What is the point of launching a new feature if it doesn't work properly?

Hi Mark N

I am sorry about this. We did an enormous amount of testing on this feature and it does work properly for new sites. However, there are a huge number of issues that can happen on existing sites, especially if they are heavily customized or have a lot of third party code. We did everything we could to make sure that this risk was minimized but some issues have slipped through.

We are investigating your problem and will get back to you. If you see a test page in your account, that's us - hope you don't mind :)

Mark N - we have released a fix that will allow you to use the old page heading editor to edit your page heading as before. You can still use the style designer for other attributes, however, given the amount of customization you have on your site, this is not recommended as it could cause other unforseen clashes. If you still have any problems with your page heading, please let us know.

I hope that you will consider adding some more font choices to the page header, as this is one area where Yola is seriously lagging behind its competitors. For instance, in Weebly (sorry for swearing) there is a choice of 100 fonts!

Monique's post probably explains the disaster that is going on now - November 18, 2013 - for people with established sites with the new style design editor. This problem obviously has not been ironed out. I am afraid to open my site, which has tons of customization, for fear of my design elements and layout going sideways, which has happened to so many other people with Yola sites. I have noticed that, without having gone into my site, that borders have disappeared from some of my custom panels!?

YOLA what are you going to do to help those of us with established sites, to save us from hundreds of hours of 'fixing' our sites due to the above-noted "issues" with the design editor?

Hi Mark.. just visited your site.
Looks really great and must have taken quite some time to put together along with time taken to just prepare the designs alone before thinking of adding them.

I get quite a few people asking for shop style sites building, but I stay away from those and turn them down due to the time required updating them daily. Plus the fact that the storfront on yola is not up to any type of standard for style.

would you be interested in taking some on as customers of your own when anybody wants a shop site building.

Thank you for your kind comments about my website http://www.simplyeighties.com. Thanks for asking if I would like to take on customers to build a shop site, I'm flattered that you like my page design so much. However, I just wouldn't have the time to do this, unfortunately, as my spare time is taken up with editing my website and blogs. But thank you, anyway.
