Submenus have been released!

Hello everyone!

We are happy to announce that the long-awaited submenu feature has been added to all Yola Premium Styles!

Using submenus means you no longer have to worry about only being able to add a certain number of pages to your website because you will run out of room on the header. Adding submenus to your Online Stores and Picture Galleries ensures a more professional presentation, and provides visitors with a richer, more in-depth experience of your site.

The more complex website layout created when you use submenus also allows your site to perform better in the search engines as there is more content for the search engines to crawl.

Using the submenus feature in the Page Manager you can:

* Create a two-level navigation hierarchy for your site (Yola Silver account holders only).
* View your overall site hierarchy easily.
* Hide and show pages in the navigation.
* Edit label and alt text for pages in your site's navigation.

The submenus page can be found under "Page" > “Page Manager” and is only available for use with Premium Styles. Yola Free and Bronze users can test out the submenu feature, but you will not be able to save your changes unless you upgrade to Yola Silver.

If you are not currently a Yola Silver user and would like to take advantage of the submenus feature, here is a link with more information on this package: Yola Silver FAQ.

And if you'd like to watch a video on how to use the submenus feature, you can do so here: Creating submenus! Also, please rate the video so we know what you think!

Let us know what you think, we're really excited to hear!

WOW!

This has to be one of the best Yola features yet! What is the name of the second style shown above? It looks really good!

The site heirachy is also a very much needed feature aswell as the external link feature.

Well Done Yola Engineers, give yourselves a pat on the back :P

Hi Andi,
Yay! We're so glad you like the new feature! The second style is called "Turned Corner". Let us know what you think after trying it out.

Kind Regards,

Thanks Emmy,

Very good menu on that style, maybe some different hover states would be better, nothing a bit of custom CSS can't solve...

Kind Regards,

Andi

Ahh! My heirachy isn't working! On my site, I just tested going through special stories, then kinabalu story. And the end result was just frodotraveller.com/kinabalu-story, not frodotraveller.com/special-stories/kinabalu-story . I hope you understand what I am saying,

Hello Amar,
It is working as it should actually! You won't see the URL structure change to be <!-- http://www.frodotraveller.com/special... --> with the subpages, although you will be on that page when you navigate there. The directory structure is sill two levels.

Does that help?

Okay Emmy, but are you guys thinking about implementing this feature? How hard would it be to do? This makes your website a lot more proffesional.

Hi Amar,
At this time we don't have plans to implement that type of directory structure, but I will add this to our list of feature requests to be considered in future releases.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi, Amar,
1. Create a new page with the name of the site you want to link to.
2. Drag and drop a HTML Widget onto your page.
3. Paste this tag into the HTML Editor: <!--
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="2; url=http://webdesign.about.com">
-->
Please note:
* "2" is how many seconds it waits before it redirects - you can change this number. Since the page will redirect in your Sitebuilder, we recommend using a higher number to ensure that it works correctly as the page may redirect too quickly for you to make changes.

* "url" is the URL it redirects to, so, replace the URL in the above tag with the one for the site you want to link to.

I replied here about 23 hours ago and for some reason, it was never posted. But it did show as posted. :( Well anyways here is my reply...

Wow!! It's awesome!

I love it!

The sub menu is awesome too! Great job Yola! You guys rock and always will! I'll never go to another website builder, ever. I try out other ones sometimes and none of them beat Yola.

Keep up all of the super fantastic work! :)

You guys rock!

Thanks for making the best website builder ever,
Nathan

Actually, I just found out that it did post! But on another topic. I got confused, there's 2 updates about this sub menu. Here is the other topic that I posted on: A new look coming to a Sitebuilder near you! Whoops.

Hello Sharen,

You are correct that the Submenu feature is only available to Yola Silver. Yola Silver also offers many additional features that you may want to check out! Please see: Yola Silver FAQs.

If I upgrade to Silver but keep my basic style, will the submenu feature be available to me? I'm not sure I want to change styles, but I do want the submenu function.

Hello Instructordeshawn,

In order to take advantage of the submenu feature, you do need to switch to a Premium style. Please remember that many of our styles are customizable and if you should upgrade to Silver, you'll have access to the Site CSS feature. This feature will enable to further tweak your site!

All very good ... BUT ... when you open a Sub-Menu, its 'parent' Menu Item is not shown in Boldface so it's not very clear at all where you have just 'come from'. Can the relevant parent Menu Item be emboldened please??
