Hey all,

Bing, a search engine to replace MSN launched by Microsoft on june 1st could be big. It has already overtaken Yahoo as the second biggest search engine in the US in a week!

They too like google have webmaster tools where you can login (using your windows ID) and submit your site. Here is the address : http://www.bing.com/webmaster/WebmasterAddSitesPage.aspx.

Just thought I would share this with people as I am in the middle of submitting my site.

Hi Connor

You might want to check out this Techcrunch article: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/06/07/...

The first paragraph of that article reads:

"A couple of days ago we reported statistics from StatCounter suggesting the Bing, Microsoft’s new “decision” engine, had bypassed Yahoo as the number 2 search engine in the U.S. and the world. Well guess what? That same data suggests Bing reign as #2 was extremely short-lived: As in one day. Yes, the same data now suggests that just as quickly as Bing shot up, it’s now heading the opposite way. And in fact, it’s still falling."

Thanks - great idea. I see Bing wants me to "Authenticate" ownership of the website - via adding an authentication code (either XML file authentication or Meta tag authentication to the to the section of my default webpage.)

Any idea where this is in Yola? How to do?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

When you submit your website address the next step is to 'Authenticate your ownership of your website'. On that page copy the 'Meta tag authentication' code for your site (the green highlighted box in the screenshot):

Then paste that code in a HTML widget at the top of your website's homepage and update your site.

Then continue the steps to add your site.

Thanks - I suddenly realised re-reading the post above mine (on "submitting your site to Live MSN:") that it related entirely to my query. Getting a handle on this SEO stuff is something else.

If you have multiple columns on your page..make sure the meta tag is placed at the top of the left most column .

I dunno why this thread came again after a year, however here is my line.

I personally hate Bing, because it doesnt give me a lot of visitors.
Bing only has a good image search feature, and they power facebook search.

Accouding to my site statistics , only 1k visitors come to my site from Bing, and most of them are from fb search powered by Bing.

I recommend everyone here to try to get attraction of Yahoo , because most classic , old Search engines use Yahoo data.

Siteexplore is a good tool when comparing with Bing's webmaster central.

You need to be up to date on Bing regardless as they ARE taking over search for Yahoo....I have been getting more visits from Bing over the last year than I do from Yahoo.Once they take over Yahoo search that should translate into more Yahoo visits for my site....I do all I can to show up in many search engines (yes even ASK) and although the numbers individually are small a few visits from many sources add up.

Here is a link to an article that had some great info concerning SEO for ASK.... http://www.searchengineguide.com/ross... It is an older article now since I first posted the link here about a year ago but I think the info is still valid.

Hello ocmoon,

This is now a very old thread much of the information is now no longer valid and the info given was also fairly specific for Yola built sites.

Suggest that you have a look at the Bing help pages for the current method for verifying and adding your site to their index.
