Hi Ail677,

Google can take time. Anywhere between a few days to 3 months. This is one that really can't be hastened.

The experience of most users i think is closer to days rather than months.

In the meantime it really helps to learn the tricks of Search Engine Optimisation. Emmy has written a series of 4 essays on this topic and it's very helpful in understanding the processes.

Hey.

Google is selective, and takes time. Google crawls the net 9times a month. But google may not even trust your site. Try posting your site on Tiwtter, facebook, mayspace, and website directorys.

What is your sites URL, it may of already been index, and your search in the wrong places

My new Yola website took about a week to appear on Google and Yahoo search engines recently.

It took me three weeks to appear on Google... what takes the longest time is getting ranked... after 2 months I'm still not ranked... in fact, if you search for any keyword on any of my pages I'm not even on the first ten pages. The only time I'm within the first ten pages is if you type in the exact name of my website, but noone's going to be searching that.

however, I have been found from google searches... what's funny is, I have had two persons come across my site searching "forensic anthropology" and I figured I would search that... and I looked through the first twelve pages and didn't see my site at all. So... google does work in mysterious ways.

Hi Donald,

Your ranking I'm sure will happen. I'll lay odds that you start with a rank of 3 :) You deserve it.

Ranking is an extremely slow process. It's not like the indexing at all. Even more secretive and unpredictable.

Can you find out how you rank among keywords? For example, site search: site name Keyword: forensic anthropology Rank: 127 <-- example... can you do something like this?

Donald,

You use clicky I think?

If you log in go down to "your websites" and select preferences>widgets> Scroll down to Cloudy. That shows your page hits with successful searches. It's reported in another place as well but the thing about this is that you get an instant impression of which words are really working for you. I think it may be a good one for you to embed somewhere, even on a hidden page it's a really good tool.

This site pretty well uses the keywords for their niche.

Hussain,

"Niche" means a place, a place where something fits into. I used it as a general metaphor (?)

IWhat I meant was that exactfactor have decided that they will market there SEO business based mostly on key words. So we could say that they have created their "niche" in the SEO market place based or focused mainly on keywords.

{English teachers and linguists are welcome to join in on this discussion with Hussain.}

Here is a link to a wikipedia article that explains the idea of a niche market: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niche_ma.... An example of a niche site would be a site for stamp collectors who only collected stamps from a specific country, or for a specific period. The site appeals to a very narrow, specific group of people who need very specific information. These sites are the easiest to optimize for search engines and the easiest to be successful with. Most people try to appeal too broadly with their websites. For example a "movie review" website would not be considered a niche site unless it only reviewed a specific genre of movie.

Hi Hussain,

I think that's a great idea to have an inteersting topic. It does take time for the traffic to happen.

The best I can suggest is simply to add more and more information to your site on a regular basis. Follow the tutorials on SEO that Emmy has publsihed and a big dose of patience.

You're not alone with this. It is a frustrating time for sure. Don't be disheartened. I am one who will stop by and read your site. It's a topic that you need to spend time on rather than glance through it so I will make the time Hussain.

i haven't forgotten you RSS feed either. I'm still looking for the key-word input facility.

You can see if your site map has been read by going to your webmaster account. You can also check for errors while your there.

I. I presume when you say added you mean verified and added a site map?

2. other things to think about is to manualy add your URL http://www.google.com/submityourconte...
and to add anaylitics http://www.google.com/analytics/
both will speed things up.

I would also run your site through here to check your SEO content http://www.websitegrader.com/

I am doing an experiment this week - yesterday i added a business to my site which has zero web presence - i want to see how long it takes to show up - but there is never any promises with searchs.

My site gets its sitemap downloaded once or twice a week but it has a page rank of 3and so is not in the same race as a new site.

The main thing with Google etc. is building trust - they need to trust your content is relaible and worthy of linking - this is what takes time.

Good luck - Lee.

Hello HussainGardezi,

What I would recommend doing is fixing the errors that have been pointed out for you. See if you can find a way to reduce your page title and your meta description.

I wish you luck.

For your descriptions I would re-read Goole webmasters tutorials on this. I haven't looked at it for a while but it has a lot of information that should help you.

If the language is too much please come back to me and maybe together we can go through some things with your work as the source. Is that OK?

I submitted my site to Google with a sitemap on 1st June, but it still isn't showing up any pages, apart from links I created myself. It seems to be taking longer for sites to show using .yolaite than with .synthasite. My other two sites showed up within a couple of weeks!

I hope there isn't a problem with .yolasite?

My site that isn't showing is http://laurelandhardy.yolasite.com

Hi Marky - there is nothing wrong with yolasite subdomains.

Did you see my suggestions above?

You are listed with other searches - its google that is not ranked - for me the best thing is anaylitics - also have a good read through these http://www.yola.com/tutorials/intro-t...

Have you signed back into your webmaster account to check everything is ok?

Lee.
