Hi R.,

We've changed our packages recently, and separated domains and domain hosting.

Previously, when you bought a domain from Yola, hosting was included. The reason we've separated the two is so that we can offer lower domain prices. Because you're an existing customer, this was done automatically and the renewal price for your domain and hosting remains the same.

We've done this by letting you renew your domain at the brand new (lower) prices, and also by dropping the cost of Yola Bronze to $23 for the first year. The Yola Bronze hosting package actually costs $45.95 / year.

You've mentioned that you paid $18.95 to renew your domain, and are being asked to renew your hosting package for $27. I would like to investigate this further. If you don't mind providing us with your domain name it will help me look into the prices you are seeing so I can clarify further.

I've never paid more than $19.99 USD / year in the last two years that we've been using Yola so sudden extra charge for hosting is bizarre to me and quite expensive for just wanting a domain renewal. www.ontariocavyclub.net

Hi R.,

I understand your situation. I have taken a look at your payment history, and I'd like to explain what has happened.

A .net domain has actually been $34.95 since 2011. When you first purchased your domain, you paid $19.95. In the year that you renewed your domain, that price went up to $34.95 - but you renewed your domain just before the price increase and renewed it for the original price.

When we released our package changes, we lowered the cost of a .net domain from $34.95 to $14.95. Coupled with the discounted price to renew Yola Bronze at $23 instead of $45.95, you pay $37.95 to renew your domain and hosting package. If you paid for your domain in CAD for the first two years, and USD now - there will be a price difference.

I hope this clarifies the situation a little better!
