I put a pdf file on my site about two months ago when it was synthasite. It was six pages and 35KB. Now I just added a file that is four pages and it is 1950 KB. Why the difference and why does the first file have a red igsignia to the left and the second one is plain. Did yola change something in the way it downloads or is there a difference between text and image scanning? The first file comes up instantly but the second one takes forever to come up and usually not at all. If you would like to look at the site, go to danielrunge.synthasite.com

Hi Daniel,

I think the reason why the files are appearing differently is because of the file extension (.pdf).

You'll see that the first file is .pdf and the rest are .PDF. I will investigate whether this is a bug on our part, but if you would like to change the files to a lower-case file extension it should solve the problem.

The reason why there is a difference in download time is because of the file size. The first file is very small (only 35kb - this is a third of a megabyte) where the other files are a lot bigger (two are 2mb and one is over 11mb). The speed to download also varies on the type of internet connection you have - the faster the internet connection, the quicker it is to download.

Another thing to be aware of - if you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, there is a known problem with clicking-on and downloading some PDFs in that browser. This is something that is beyond our control and the workaroudn here is to add some text next to the file saying something like "If you are unable to open this PDF, right-click on the link and choose Save to download and open this file from your computer".

I hope this information helps, please let us know if you need any other assistance.
