Synthasite and the Digg Effect? - Synthasite's Backend

Let's pretend that my site was popular enough to be very high in Digg ratings. If thousands of people accessed my site, would Synthasite still stay up. The "Digg Effect" is when so many people access the site from Digg.com that it goes down. Is this a problem for Synthasite. Just curious, does Synthasite own its own servers, or do you use something like Amazon S3?

Hi jcanto11,

We have yet to hit that barrier. In other words, we've been continuously expanding our server capacity to stay ahead of the user demand, which we monitor every day. So, no, not yet a problem. We do welcome the challenge, if you build that high-quality a website, which becomes popular with a host of real, interested users, we'll work to try to make sure your site stays up.

What kind of site did you have in mind?
