Missing image.

Here is an interesting thing, I have an image "feedbacktab.png" that uses the png format to support thrnsparent background. I need the transparency as it slides across the index page.

OK it works fine in the editor mode, and when I save it works fine in page preview. Make sit live it's not there!! The site has updated as the sliding functionality is now active but you have to know where to click as the tab is either missing or totally transparent.

Tested on 3 PC's (2 x Vista, 1 x XP) so it's not a machine or OS issue. Shows up fine on all machines on the preview page. Tested with IE8, IE7 (XP machine), FF 3.0.15, Opera 9, and Safari.

Same on all PC's with every browser I have tried (couldn't be bothered to try Chrome).

Any ideas?

The tab should be on the right hand side of the index/home page about in line with the banner, the mouse pointer changes when you are over where it should be.

The more I look at this the more it has to be a back-end issue. If not why does it work on the preview page, and on my photographty site with another hosting company?

I may move that site once it's hosting contract expires if I can get these niggles sorted.

No redirect.

It is supposed to slide out the form when clicked, This works as far as I can tell (no form on page load) but you have to guess where to click. I think I may give up on this form hiding lark, Yola and it don't seem to get on.

Hi Rob

I wonder if the error lies in the file name for your feedback tab? Make sure when you enter your file name, it looks exactly as it does in the file manager - include any captilizations and dashes.

OK it works in the editor environment, and it works in the preview, but NOT in live so the file name must be OK.

Surely if it works in the preview then it should work in the published environment, otherwise everything is pot-luck.

For some reason, the site builder is able to pick it up but it does not work in the live site. You need to make sure that the file name typed exactly the same. Can you please give this a try.

Sorry about the outburst, frustration is getting the better of me. Capitalization was the issue, but it raises a question:

Capitalization is important in the published environment (Live), but not in the editor environment (Development) or the preview environment (Test).

This suggests that there are major environmental differences between Live and Dev/Test! Possibly even OS/platform variances, such as Unix/Linux for Live and a wintel environment for Dev/Test, if so then there are there will be differences users should be made aware of.

Thanks for the solution.

No problem. You are quite correct! The site builder is case insensitive and published sites are case sensitive. This is a bug on our end and very confusing to users. It should be fixed very soon so that both environments behave in the same way. The correct behavior is for file names to be case sensitive, so the site builder will go for some "sensitivity training" so that it stops messing with people's heads! ;) There aren't any other significant differences that we are aware of, but if we come across any we will log them as bugs and then bug the developers to fix them in order to provide a consistent user experience!

Littleus.

Thats fine, the three environment development model only works if the environments relax through the delivery cycle not the reverse. Idealy they should be aligned.

Thanks for the honest answer.
