PayPal have a testing site: payPal Sandbox. You have to sell your soul to get into this facility.

Does anyone have experience on checking their payPal functioning that doesn't require a financial transaction to be done?

Due to banking law, Paypal is limited to "payments only" in this country.
For this reason I've never looked into it's operation.
Sorry - not much help from me here Pete !

Oh yes, Ofcourse. I forgot about that Boomer.

It's a minefield of info on payPal. LU gave me a great search reference but the discussion is really 50/50 on what you can do.

No matter I'm sure it will all work out.

I don't think that you are alone in your feelings on PayPal Hussain. They do have an easily available widget style of accessibility for people like me who only want to use it for very small but convenient applications.

Clickbank is lesser known but thankyou for the tip and I will investigate the possibility.

Clickbank is not the way to go for this use. It's quite expensive and they then use PayPal for the transactions. What it does offer is a network of affiliates who may promote your product.

Good to know.

Definitely bookmarked thanks Guido.

I have used iKobo for simple money transfers from the UK to Thailand and that has worked well. ( low % commission but not as low as this one :) ). No go though for payment of goods or services. This one looks most interesting.

I checked this out thanks Guido. It's a States only facility. Unfortunately I can't use it but it does look really good.

Hi Peter

We used the PayPal sandbox when we developed our online store widget, but the requirements are quite extensive as you mention. In order to test we had to perform real financial transactions. So in answer to your question, I don't know how to test PayPal without getting access to their sandbox, and without doing real payments. To make it worse, I am in the same boat as Boomer - PayPal or alternatives not available in SA.

Does this answer your question?

OK. Thanks Monique,

Sandbox by reports is unreliable and PayPal don't like self transactions. I'll take a gamble I think and simply hope that it works.
