Since the update every time I add a text box it doubles to two spacing - and when I hit the back space button it won't go back. If you log on to www.filanforever.com/news and under the first news item you will see what I mean.

Hi Shazzy,

Can you try using Shift-Enter (if you're on Firefox or IE) to go to the next line instead of double-spacing. Let me know if that works for you.

Hi Sohail - we really don't recommend that you copy and paste from Word - it copies hidden formatting which makes your text really difficult to edit. Please can you try using something like Notepad - let us know if that doesn't work for you?

Hi Marije, I'm afraid it does not work and I'm still left with the huge gap between news items. What can I do? I need this resolved. Thanks Shazzy

Hi Shazzy

I wish I had an easy answer for you as to why it happens but I assume that your table generator has something to do with it. Could you share with me the URL of the generator so that I might take a look.

I spent the last hour and a half trying to figure out a work around and was almost set to give up when I happened to while in the text editor and looking at the displayed text noticed that there was one cell per line and your cell spacing was set to 20 so I cut each cells contents and pasted each line after the first. Sadly I could not simply set the cell spacing to 0 because that threw off the border to text spacing and it did not look like your other tables.

It is a little more detailed than that but it explains what I found and did. If you follow the tutorial bellow you can easily fix it yourself. You can see how it looks here. http://shazzy-test.synthasite.com/

1) Drag a new text widget on your page where you wish the table to appear
2) Copy the code bellow (only that which is between the )
3) Click on the text widget and then click the HTML button in your toolbar. The HTML editor pop up box will appear
4) Highlight the contents (a few letters and characters)
5) Paste the code bellow into the HTML editor in place of the above contents
6) Click "OK"

Your text should appear on your page just like it does on my test page...

If you have any other that do that please let me know and I can help with those as well.

Don't forget to post the URL: for the table generator so that I might look at it.

Happy site building

Hi Ed,
When I add the table it is fine - but i add a text widget between the items to add space between the news items. It is the text widget that is adding an extra line and won't let me backspace. It has been working perfectly up until the recent update this week and ever since then it doesn't work properly.

Thanks for your help. ;)

1) Drag a new text widget on your page where you wish the space to appear
2) Click on the text widget and then click the HTML button in your toolbar. The HTML editor pop up box will appear
4) Highlight the contents (a few letters and characters)
5) Hit "Backspace" on your keyboard or right click on the highlighted code and delete. (The HTML pop-up should be blank)
5) Click "OK"
6) Click on the empty text widget and click "Enter" on your keyboard (it should return to what looks like a double space)
7) Click "Backspace" on your keyboard (you should see only one empty line)

For example the page I have done for you (LOL not that you needed it) describes the spaces. http://shazzy-test.synthasite.com/

1st space = No text widget between the tables
2nd space = One text widget with a click on the box and then a backspace
3rd space = No backspace on the test widget
4th space = The tutorial above

I hope that if you cannot backspace in the empty text widget that you can use what I have shared above and make it look as you wish.

Let me know...

Thanks,

Shazzy sorry that you seem to be having such luck. I truly feel for you...

I wonder ??? Could you try using another browser other than the one you are currently using to edit your site and see if that might work???

Hi Ed, I use Windows Explorer 7. When I go to the HTML and remove the text in it (which never happened before). It does take it back one space but still leaves the second line there. Is the firefox browser that much different? It seems strange it worked perfect before the updates. I assume no-one else has noticed the problem.
Thanks for your help. Shazzy ;o)
