Thank you very much, now go away!

I have been working on a few contact forms lately using JotForm, and needed to do a bit of work on a "Thank you" page.

JotForm allows you to link to your own URL once the form has been submitted. At first I was thinking of creating a thank you page with a 5 second redirect back to the form page they
had just left.

I did a bit of Googling to get some ideas on "thank you" pages and opened up a whole new can of worms which has got me off on a whole new tangent and a couple more days of work of course.

What I found, was that people were saying that the "thank you" page is the most underutilized page on your website.

If someone gave you their email address, name, phone number, etc through a contact form, they trust you and wish to hear from you. Don’t just serve them a standard "Thank you" page.

Use this valuable real estate to extend your relationship and engage them with other conversion possibilities like a newsletter signup, an RSS feed, other specials, etc.

Here are some links to the most interesting reads I found:

Besides allowing you to link to your own custom "thank you" page, JotForm also allows you to send a confirmation email to your client. You can make it more personal by including their name and some of the details that they just filled in on your form.

Here's an example of the confirmation email that I am currently working on.
It may give you some ideas:

Hey Boomer

Thanks for sharing!! It does give that extra personal touch when you customize your thank-you emails.

Now you should be getting paid for all that Jotform advertisement! ; )

p.s. You have done an amazing job with your forms! Totally in tune with your site's colors and presentation. You deserve a round of applause on this one! (clap, clap, clap!)

Thanks guys,

You know, there are a couple of great websites on the internet that give a lot for very little. I know they are all in it for financial gain at the end of the day, but some just do it better than others. I love sharing and singing their praises.

Two that immediately come to mind are Yola and Jotform.
There are lots more. Maybe others can chime in here.

This is really excellent Connor, I will find this helpful on my site. I wouldn't have even though about it but your info is right. When I am "shopping" or whatever, I like an acknowledgment more personal. ty for the info, denise

Boomer, I left a comment on your website as well! Your website is fabulous! When I left the comment in your "contact page" I got a "thank you" page but it didn't redirect anywhere. Did you know that it isn't doing that? I wanted to let you know in case you didn't. I may have done something wrong too though, I think pretty much everyone here knows how dingy I am now.

denise
PS I am again, so impressed with your website and Yolas capabilities, geesh. I just didn't know.

Hey Denise,

I'm blushing from all the compliments - thank you very much.

Yep, anything's possible with Yola, if you are prepared to step away from the regular site builder and delve a little deeper and get creative with a some HTML. (although this is not even neccesary, the standard site builder does a great job as it is)

There are a lot of other great sites built with Yola's site builder.
I'm not sure if you have had a look at Yola's featured sites or some of the sites on forsite. (just hover over the templates styles)

P.S. Thanks for taking the time to contact me via my form. I'm still in the process of setting up the "thank you" page. The confirmation email is only being sent out from the FREE listing application form at the moment. I want to test it thoroughly on one form first before updating the rest.

Now when are we going to see that site of yours ;-)

Hi Conner:) you can see it it just isn't done, LOL! fromheretoeden.com. I have lots of dreams for it and ladies travel accessories are fun for me even though I don't get to travel:) It's fun to help them and in a way, I will feel I am traveling too:)

Any feedback is welcome. I love to add in some customization and I know a little html so that will help. Mostly though, I got confused but you've all been a great help!! I just hope to return the favors in helping others when I get a good handle on procedures:) denise

PS I have seen some other sites as well. I fell in love with littleus site and hers really put me on the path of what mine was going to be about.
