The Real Way in Yola to add the Google Webmaster Meta Tag / Code to your Index page...

Hi, I just wanted to post this for all the people who are frustrated with the Google Webmaster tool and cannot seem to be able to be verified by Google...
There is a part in the Meta tag from Google that looks like this...

="vOMrwptHvKep6tq6fji422wbyvMwaecl="
or similar, exclude the meta, arrows, first equal sign, first parenthesis and last parenthesis (and anything else besides the following)

vOMrwptHvKep6tq6fji422wbyvMwaecl=
(As shown typed above) Copy it as shown... Be ready to paste it...

Now go to the Properties Tab in Yola on the Content Sidebar, find GOOGLE WEBMASTER CODE, place the voMrwptHvKep etc... here. It does not go in the body of your webpage between the head tag as Google suggests...

Last after pasting the code in the the Google Webmaster code box, Make sure you save the page correctly, choose Update My Site... NOTE: Sometimes after you have pasted the code into the box you have to CLICK on the words GOOGLE WEBMASTER CODE for Yola to know that you've added something to that box... 2nd Note: If you paste the code and immediately press the Update My Site button instead of Save Yola should ask you if you want to save the changes you've made if it doesn't you haven't changed anything... If you are getting the we cannot find the meta tag error make sure as soon as you open the Properties Toolbar to fix the issue you see the code pasted there, I found that I had pasted it there but when I came back it was blank... Make sure you save it correctly...

How about having meta tags of Google, MSN and Yahoo in the same website ? How do I do that ? I can help feeling that Yola is only Google-friendly...

Hi Stan,
Unfortunately it isn't possible to add verification code to your site for Yahoo and MSN the same way you can for Google.

Here is a link to our tutorial: Promoting Your Site, at the beginning there are links to submit your site to Yahoo, Google and MSN. Doing this effectively adds your site to a list of sites for the search engine to crawl.

I hope this helps,

Emmy

Wow the site builder has changed so much over this and last year! It used to have that yellow publish button, etc. and now, I like the new version better! It really did "get a face lift"!

Hi Ravikolli

You should be able to see the box for the google webmaster code underneath the window title. Since the new upgrade yesterday, things have changed a little since the original posting. Please take a look at my screenshot to see where it is now located:

Hi Guys

We have just become aware of a bug which we believe was introduced with yesterday's release.

Some users are able to see the Google Webmaster Code box as in Littleus's screenshot and others are not.

We are not sure why this is yet, but we are working on it and we will let you know as soon as we have move information.

@c2print....I just really try to emphasize anything to do with SEO because many here get so caught up in the bells and whistles you can have on a site and do very little SEO work...I would hate for anyone to have a beautiful site that no one ever saw.

Yes but Alexa requires you to add their tag to their root directory...I have done as Ayesh concerning Yahoo and Bing....The only thing about that is you HAVE to keep those tags above everything else on your page and if you have more than one column on your home page make sure the tags are at the top of the left most column.

To VERIFY your site with Yahoo,Alexa and Bing, just copy all their meta tags to a .txt file, and paste the entire txt file's content in a html widget, on very top of your index page.

Hehe frndz,
nice to hear that you got 'em verified.

In alexa, you can use email verification method.
In Google, now you can use DNS method.
