For the MILLIONTH TIME I have tried to make a blog on my website (which is BADLY NEEDED). However, as with EVERY OTHER TIME, the STUPID blog function DOESN'T WORK. I can make ONE post, and then FAIL. IT ALWAYS FAILS. It will not allow me to post anything besides that first post. EVERY TIME I get the typical "OH HEY GUYZ! YOLA IS WURKEENG ON IT NOW!", but that seems to never end up happening.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me what the heck is going on????????

website = http://www.goodfuckingjoke.com

It's currently RUINED, because the blog randomly started working last night, but I was busy and could not take advantage of it. I tried to today, and FAIL. WTF?

Hi gfjoke,

I totally understand you are frustrated, but I have to ask that you refrain from profanity in the forum please.

I do want to help you. I have taken a look at your site and don't see that there is currently a blog on it; this is probably because it wasn't working for you so you took it off. It would be helpful for me if you would add the blog page again and add a post. I can then look closer at how it is functioning and try to troubleshoot why this is happening for you.

I do want to say that many people successfully use the blog feature, so we can help get this worked out.

Thanks,
Emmy

Ok. I made a blog. I think I have some idea of what is causing the problem. My first test post was fine. After my second post, where I embedded a YouTube video, everything began to fail.

My apologies for being harsh, I am simply a bit frustrated. I tried to make sure I did not use any swear words in that post.

I will post a blog with a new post ASAP. Please let me know if you find out what is wrong with it.

To the other guy, nabble is not what I'm looking for. Yola is.

My goal is to have the index (home) page set as a blog where I can make posts with comments. Just out of curiosity, Yola will allow me to do that right?

Hi,

Thanks for adding the blog page. Yes, you are right, the problem is with the video being added. I have also tested this on a test site and have the same problem occur when I add a video to a blog post.

What I see happening is that when a video is added to a blog post, it makes it not possible to click on the blog posts to edit them, or the "New Post" or "Blog Manager" buttons.

What I was able to do was click on the "Manage" button which took me into the Blog Manager where I was able to add posts and edit posts.

Can you give this a try and let me know if that works for you.

Thanks,
Emmy

I have already tried that multiple times. What happens is that I can write an entire post, tag it, and categorize it, but when I click "Ok" I lose everything and get an error message. This is the frustrating part.

I see. Can you email us at support@yola.com, I would like to have a look in your Site Builder. I believe this is a bug with adding video content in a blog post, but would like to test this in your site.

Thanks,
Emmy

I emailed support@yola.com and told them my problem. I am using a temporary fix, and using a picture with a link instead for now. By the way, is there any way to reverse the order the posts are placed in? I would like to have the most recent at the top.

We received your email to support and will take a look at the problem and get back to you. I may need to speak with an engineer, so please give me a little bit of time. I am glad you are using that workaround in the meantime.

There isn't a way to reverse the order of posts on the blog, but the most recent should be the first one displayed on the page. Is that not what you are seeing?

Unfortunately the workaround failed. I tried to post a second post after simply using an image, and it failed.

I am definitely not seeing it that way when it does actually randomly work. I am seeing oldest post at the top. My email account said that the email did not go through. I am going to be busy now so I will not have time to resend it. Please check. If the email did not go through, I will resend it when I can. I will keep up the temporary blog even though I do not like it currently.

Hello gfjoke,
Did someone respond to you from Yola support? I have been looking for your support ticket so that I can find out where you are with this problem. Can you tell me if you are still having the same problem and if you are working with someone from support. Thanks!

No, I have not received a response. As I said earlier, I do not think that the email went through. I emailed support@yola.com, but the Google Mail service told me that there was an error. Something about the domain being non-existent. Please let me know when this can be resolved.

Hi gfjoke,

When I access your site and go to the blog page, it loads for me and no errors appear. In order for us to help you further, please could you post the following information:
1. What browser and version are you using (eg. IE7, Firefox etc).
2. Can you try using a different browser and let us know if that makes a difference.
3. Can you clear your browser's cache: http://www.google.com/support/account...
4. When you try to add a new blog post, does an error open? If it does, can you copy it, then click on "Help" in the top right of the site builder and then "Contact Support". Please paste the error message into the box provided and send it to us. That email will definitely come to support@yola.com

I have tried everything you said to no avail. I even tried re-typing the post without copying and pasting anything to see if that was part of the problem, and it did not work. For some reason, I am able to post a million things that include the word "test." I sent two error messages to the support team. I hope this can be resolved.

Hi gfjoke - could you please confirm and answer the questions I asked? For example, could you let me know what browser you are using.

Hi gfjoke,
I wanted to touch base with you on this. This is definitely a bug with adding embed code to blog posts. I have logged this and our engineers will be taking a look at it.

What I can suggest at this time is that you add a link to any YouTube videos from a blog post. Unfortunately I cannot give anything exact as to when a fix will go out for this.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience and do appreciate your patience while we work on this.

Thanks,
Emmy

Hi gfjoke,
Ok, so there is a workaround for this! You will only have this trouble if you are using Firefox. So if you switch your browser to IE you will be able to keep the video post and also add more posts. I hope that will help!

Hi Emmy,

I don't know why this is marked as answered, as the problem remains unresolved. I tried again, and I tried various approaches. I am unable to post what I want to post for some odd reason. I hope this issue is resolved for Yola's sake. As for me, I have decided to move my website's hosting. I really do like Yola, but the blog function is crucial to my website. Best of luck to you and the rest of the team.

- Mike

p.s. I am using a MacBook Pro, and the browser I have worked the most with is Firefox (the latest version).

Hi Mike,
Did you see my last post about using Internet Explorer? I marked this answered because it is "answered" even though the bug is not yet solved. This is our way of moderating threads so we stay on top of what has had employee involvement or what has been answered. Sorry if that was confusing. If you would be willing to give IE a try that would be great. If not, good luck on your future endeavors!

FYI - this has to do with the topic type selected at the top of the thread. "Questions" are marked as "answered" when they have received a response. "Problems" are marked as solved once a solution has been found. Emmy's status selection was appropriate given the nature of the thread. I am sure she didn't mean to cause offense. However, I do apologize if you felt that your problem was being dismissed.

Hi Emmy,

I just saw your response now. Unfortunately, I have a MacBook Pro, and using Internet Explorer is not an option for me as Microsoft discontinued support for Internet Explorer for Apple computers. I do have XP on my computer, but I cannot seem to get it to connect to the internet (but that's an entirely different issue). Because of this, I really am out of options. Do you know if the blog function works on any other browser besides Internet Explorer? Perhaps Google Chrome? Opera?

Hi Mike,
We have just tested Safari and it works using this browser as well. Can you give that a try?

I tried Safari and it did not work. I have discovered that when I use the tags: bank fees, it fails. I think it may have saved the second post I ever made (which was the first one that failed), and is now not letting me post what I want to post about. I am able to post when I use random tags that do not include the words I specified.

Thank you for that additional information. I will pass it onto our engineers to help them debug why this may be happening. In the meantime, I hope that you are now able to move forward with blogging! :)

I decided to move my hosting for that website. I am still hosting my other website http://www.WhatsUpdog.net with Yola. How do I delete the old website from my account?

Hello gfjoke

To delete your site, log in to your account and open the site in the Site Builder:

1. Cilck on the "Site Manager Tab". You will see three buttons directly below the Site Manager tab: "rename site", "edit menu" and "delete site".
2. Click on the "Delete Site" button. A window will pop up, asking you to confirm that you wish to delete your site.
3. Click "Ok" and a window will then pop up asking you to type in "delete" to confirm.

or

1. Click on the down-arrow next to your site name at the very top of the page.
2. A drop-down menu will open and one of the options given is to delete your site.
3. A window will then pop up asking you to type in "delete" to confirm.

Please remember deleting your site is NOT reversible! You cannot retrieve your information once your site has been deleted.
