I would like to transfer a domain from yola to GBBO. I've unlocked the domain, added the transfer to my gbbo account- it is now just waiting on Yola.

I've tried by email but I'm on a free account so the automated response comes through.

Please help me transfer my domain away.

Hi Nathan,

I'm afraid I don't understand your request. GBBO stands for Get British Business Online and it's a partnership that allows you to register a domain with Yola for free. If you wish to transfer your domain away you will need to select a new domain registrar to transfer your domain to.

Also, if you are a GBBO user, you are not classified as a free user so we can assist you with your transfer request if you contact us from the email address associated with your domain registration.

I am classified as a free user once my bronze package is expired which it has.

I have tried emailing the yola team via email however an automated reponse.

I have been a gbbo before you partnered with them when they we're with BT.

Hi Nathan,

Everyone will get an immediate auto-response on sending a message to Yola CS. It doesn't matter if you are on a paid subscription or free. Silver & Gold get priority but all queries are answered.

They will endeavour to answer your message within 48 hours.

It has been more than 48 hours since they reply.

The email had this to say:

We love to answer every email we get because all our customers are important to us. However, for the time being we are not in the position to do so. We would therefore like to ask our Yola Free customers to kindly to make use of our forum or comprehensive tutorials for any technical support queries.

--

This is what I'm meaning, it says I have to to use the forums, I can not use the email support.

Beg yours Nathan. First time I've heard that one. Sorry for my lack of understanding on that.

It does sound confusing because normally the domain management facilities are only available with paid for subscriptions. I think Laura or Stefan will have to research this one a bit more for you. They're usually on twice a day and Stefan is on Mon-Fri for extended times.

Yola partnered with GBBO (Get British Businesses Online) - I had my first domain registered with GBBO when they we're partnered with BT.

The subscription only lasts a year while on GBBO's partnership. (Bronze Package) - however it has been over a year now.

Which is why the email has come through.

Nathan I've never tried this but you may like to look at Zone Edit.

This is a public domain DNS facility that goes over the top of registrars facilities as I understand and also works when no DNS management is offered by a registrar or that you don't have access to..

Aaaaaghhh. That came out all wrong.

ZE is supposed to offer a tool where other facilities don't work but I think it's a complex system and not intuitive. People can use these tools when their own system is inaccessible.

I'm not sure where that link goes to but to contact Yola please go to: https://www.yola.com/support/contact - they should help you transfer your domain away.

I checked Gop's link above and it is the correct link to contact support: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...

When you say you have been trying to do this every night for a month, can you tell me what specifically you have tried? The process is quite simple. Once you contact us with the new IPS tags for the registrar where you want to transfer your domain to, we add those tags for you and your new registrar will contact you direct with next steps. If you have followed these steps and are having trouble, please reply with the GBBO domain you are referring to and I will check the status of your request.

Hi Laura,
I have tried to sort this out through Yola but because I created the website in Feb 2011 there's nothing Yola can do they say.
I can't seem to find a way of getting in touch with GBBO as it just leads me to Yola. I can't proove that I own the domain pattern-cutter.co.uk as the domain was registered with GBBO so I have no receipts for purchasing it as it was free. I can't seem to be able to verify it either.

I've tried contacting 123 reg and UK cheapest to find someway of transferring it. I've been to Whois net to see the domain and it doesn't recognise it. I've installed google Apps as that seemed to be a link in the chain towards sorting it out.
I've tried so many things now that lead to dead ends that I'm really at a loss to know what to do. My website is down for the second week.

This is the message I'm getting from Webmaster tools below but I can't really do much with it as I can't verify my site as I explained:-

http://www.pattern-cutter.co.uk/: Googlebot can't access your site
March 26, 2013

Over the last 24 hours, Googlebot encountered 3 errors while attempting to retrieve DNS information for your site. The overall error rate for DNS queries for your site is 100.0%.

You can see more details about these errors in Webmaster Tools.

Recommended action
If the site error rate is 100%: • Use a WHOIS tool to verify that http://www.pattern-cutter.co.uk/ has a proper whois record and that nameservers are configured for the site. If not, contact your domain registrar to update your whois records.
• Using a DNS lookup tool, verify that the nameserver's name can be resolved to an IP address. If not, either update your whois record to contain an IP address for your nameserver, or update the DNS records for nameserver.
• Using a DNS lookup tool, verify that http://www.pattern-cutter.co.uk/ can be resolved to an IP address. If it can't, update the DNS record for http://www.pattern-cutter.co.uk/ on your nameserver.

Kind regards,

Lisa.

Hi Lisa,

The trouble is your domain expired in February. You can see that it was registered to you in the WHOIS lookup as well as who the registrar was but you can't transfer a domain that is no longer active and since it expired more than 30 days ago, you will have to wait for it to become available agan before you can re-register it from the domain registrar of your choice or simply select a new domain name. Unfortunately there is nothing Yola.com can do to assist you further as we were not the registration partner working with GBBO when you signed up for your free domain.

Here's the WHOIS results for your domain.

Results returned from whois.nic.uk:

Thanks Laura,
I thought as much. I've got it on back order with 123 reg. Do you know how long it usually takes to come up for sale after the reg has expired?
I didn't get any notifications from GBBO to warn of it expiring or to explain how to transfer it.
I do have other similar domains and a new website, but this domain was the one with the highest google search ranking.

Thanks again.

Lisa.

Sure thing Lisa, I wish we could do more. Times can vary but it usually takes about a month for the domain to be prepped for resale.
