Can you have too many pages on your site? Just a thought. Would a search engine crawl your site and think "my god, there are way too many pages here to index/list, what a waste of cyber space" and then penalise you?
If so, how many pages are good? And how to hide the others from the crawlers?
You don't have to worry about search engines thinking you have too many pages, and then punishing your rankings :) That won't happen.
But having too many pages can put your visitors off from coming back again. I'm talking about A LOT of pages (and that number differs from depending on the purpose of each site). Too many pages can cluter your navigation menus and pages themselves, leaving your visitor confused or overwhelmed.
As best as you can try focus all your information into the pages you need only. Simple and well-structured will make for happy visitors :)
i have a recipe site (therecipebook.yolasite.com0 and on it, in the nav bar, i hav all the different types of dish (italian, spanish, desserts all of that stuff) and then i have columns of names of the dishes, and then my peeps who visit dont get confused. It is very simple. I am not sure how effective it will be and for how long. I only have a couple of recipes so it obviously worksfor the mo.
