Hi All, I need to transfer a domain name I bought for a customer last summer to their new webmaster. HOW?

I have unlocked the site (it's currently in my name on whois etc), have an authorisation code but no idea what else to do?

I bought the domain name through yola using tucows. Please help you lovely lovely people. :)

Hi Rebecca,

Once you have your authorization code, the next steps must be taken with your new registrar and these will vary based on the registrar you are moving to. Please contact them for steps on how to proceed.

Alternately, you can always keep your domain at Yola and simply point it to your new host. You can learn more here.

Thanks for that, I'm not moving to a new registrar though (I think?) - to be honest the jargon really confuses me.

I made the website and bought the name on behalf of a not for profit company. They have funding for a purpose built, all singing website, its beyond my abilities so a new webmaster is in charge.

I am signing the domain name over to them if you will, so they can host etc everything themselves and I don't need to have anything more to do with it.

Should I just give the new web dude the authorisation code sent to me? Should I change the domain name owner details to his details?

*rocks slowly and goes back to playing with pretty spreadsheets..

Does that make sense?

Hi Rebecca,

I think I understand now! If the new webmaster plans to continue hosting the domain with Yola, we will be able to handle the transfer for you. It will involve you sharing both your email address and his so we can't do here for the sake of your privacy. Please email support@yola.com for assistance.
