Why doesn't my image which IS transparent show a white background? Is the Alpha Channel not compatible with Yola?

Hello Donald

You can use transparent backgrounds with Yola. I am not familiar with Alpha Channel but if you find it is not working, try setting your color mode to RGB-16bit and hopefully that will resolve the issue.

my understanding of "alpha channel" is that ALL transparent backgrounds use it.

Alpha Channel == Transparent Background

It's just a way of coding a background to make it transparent.

I have my transparent background on my image, but yet, it's white in Yola.

Hey Donald,
are you saving your picture/images as a .png?
If not I don't think it will work as transparent.
But I'm not sure

nope, changing it to .png didn't work.

And I use GIMP, I've tried downloading paint.net before and I couldn't cause of some machine interference and gimp works fine. I can open the image in gimp and clearly see the transparency. In gimp, transparency is indicated by gray and white checkerboard.

That is odd...I use Gimp and paint.net both...Please share the image maybe as Sanja has asked......The only thing I can think of is if you didn't save in Gimp as a png in the first place you will lose the transparency...Going back to Gimp with that same image and saving as a png will not bring the transparency back.

Hey Donald

Would you mind sharing with us your image? I'd like to try this on my site and see if I'm able to replicate this behaviour.

That seemed to be the problem, I didn't save the original (transparent) image as a .png, instead, I changed the .png extension in yola file manager - which did not work. But I have the problem solved! Thanks!
