Blogging Research Wordle

Great news! If you’re blogging on Tumblr, you can now integrate your Tumblr blog into your Yola site with our brand-new, easy-to-use widget.

If you haven’t started blogging on Tumblr, it’s a great reason to start—especially since research shows that a business blog can help you:

  • Build community and expand your reach to current and new customers.

  • Connect with a wider audience and share your expertise.

  • Raise your SEO ranking so more potential customers see your site.

Pretty good stuff, right? And all great reasons to check out the new Tumblr widget. It couldn’t be easier. All you do is drag and drop the widget, and your Tumblr blog (every single post) will be seamlessly integrated into your website.

Tumblr Widget on Yola

The new Tumblr widget makes it easy to add these great new features to your site:

  • Visitors can page through every blog post you’ve ever written.

  • Your site instantly updates each time you post to your Tumblr blog.

  • Three design style choices to work with your site’s look and feel.

  • Your Tumblr image and video sizes configured to fit the dimensions of your Yola site – automatically.

So go for it—if you’ve got a Tumblr blog, try out the new widget to get your followers to your Yola site and vice versa. Just go into edit mode on your site, and you can quickly access the Tumblr widget in the Widget Collections menu to the right of your page. If you don’t have a Tumblr blog yet, get one started now.

What do you think about the new Tumblr widget? Are you going to start your blog? We’d love to know. Please leave a comment here and tell us all about it.

Tumblr is a great feature. But be careful if you do any kind of affiliate marketing they will SUSPEND YOU without warning. It happened to me and I think it's kind of stupid seeing how most all sites these days have some affiliate relationships.

Tumblr has some language in the user agreement that prohibits any affiliate marketing using their applicatiion. I was posting affiliate links in my updates using tumblr and they cut me off. That's what I'm saying.

This is the email they sent me about affiliate marketing. You will have to judge for yourself.

Seth, Jul-26 08:36 (EDT):
Hello,

Your account has been suspended for spam, affiliate marketing, or keyword marketing activity. Per the policies you agreed to when creating your account, such activity is prohibited on Tumblr.

Hi Panagiotis

Tumblr is a third-party widget in Yola which allows you to pull the content from your blog into your Yola site. However, the content itself is still on Tumblr's site and should therefore adhere to their Terms of Service.

If you have any questions, please read their Terms of Service and contact them directly if you have any concerns.

Well Nazlie, thanks for the 'illumination' but isn't your concern when you promote a new widget and a service EVEN third party which suspends your customers ?

I understand the question. Thank you for bringing this to people's attention as it is good to be aware of the terms of service of any tool you use on the internet. We have integrated with the Tumblr widget because we believe it will be useful to many customers. However, there may be limitations with Tumblr, either due to functionality or their terms of service that mean that it is not right for everyone.

Please take time to review the Yola terms of service, in particular the section entitled "Links to third party sites."

Here is a relevant quote:

The Site, the Yola Toolset and User Sites (including under Yola Subdomains) may contain links to third party web sites, including links to User Sites, third party text, video feeds (podcasts), offers, and software applications (including widgets) (collectively referred to as "Linked Sites"). The Linked Sites and third parties are not under the control of and/or owned by Yola and Yola is not responsible for the contents of any Linked Site, including without limitation any link contained in a Linked Site, or any changes or updates to a Linked Site.

Hello A3,

I'm wondering if you have the Sidebar closed? At the top right of your Sitebulder page you will see a "Preferences" button. If you click the down arrow of this you will see two options:

1. Show Widget Borders:
You can check or uncheck the box which will allow you to choose the way the widgets appear on your Sitebuilder page. If you choose to have the widget borders showing you will see each widget denoted on the page. If you choose to not show the widget borders the page in the Sitebuilder will look more like what your published page would look like. You can try both options and see which you prefer.

2. Show Right Sidebar:
You can check or uncheck this box which will allow you to choose to have the Sidebar showing or not showing in the Sitebuilder while you work.

I hope this information is helpful!

This is a little off topic, but what Screenshot Software are you using?

Hi Shawn,

I just used the standard "command, shift, 4" to grab the screenshot from my Mac, but I used Picnik to annotate it and round the corners of the screenshot to pretty it up a bit.

If I need shots that go beyond what displays on my screen, I love ScreenGrabber in Firefox.

Ok guys :) so far so good with the blogs. i created 5 blogs in one account and all published via widgets on my yola website. I am not sure if automaticaly refresh/update the yola website everytime we update the blogs. maybe there is a delay ? or we have to delete the cookies? we refresh our browsers many times, close them open them again and finally we can see it updated it after 3-4 minutes and after republished the yola website. i ll work on it for a while and i ll get back to you with more info.

Hi Kurt,

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by not getting the widget to stick. Are you referring to the Tumblr widget? Can you link the page on your website you are struggling with here along with any other details you can provide about the problem? Thanks!
