I am no longer seeing the download option on my Yola site. I use that to load the website on my own web server. Is there another option now, or has the option moved?

Hello Tex,
We have removed the "download site" feature from Yola as the use of it was limited and we feel the support needed for the few users that did need it, didn't warrant us keeping it as a feature. We are unable to ensure that downloaded sites will work in other hosting environments. However, we have kept a way that you can still download your site.

1. Load the sitebuilder of the site you would like to download

2. Paste the following snippet into the URL bar (erasing what is already there)

javascript:void((new ide.requests.actions.downloadSite()).send({site:ide.user.getSite()}))

Once you hit "Enter" your site will start to download to your computer.

Please note that self publishing has been deprecated and Yola cannot offer any support if you have difficulties hosting your site elsewhere. However, we encourage you to make use of our free hosting service which includes 99% uptime, DoS protection and 24/7 support.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi Emmy. I too have this problem as I have been used to downloading my site religiously after every update as an ultimate backup. Can I assume that the work around method you advise above has no effect on work in progress in the sitbuilder or the published site ?

Hi Jonnysmiler,
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean when you use the workaround, it won't download what is currently being worked on? It will download the most current version that has been saved in the Sitebuilder. It definitely won't affect your published site unless you upload the files to another host. Please let me know if this doesn't answer your question and I will further assist.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Just wanted to say thanks Emmy, I was freaking out about that option being gone as well. I'm paranoid enough about losing my work that I keep backups of my backups. I was worried I'd have to go to a third party program and cross my fingers that it did everything correctly.

I would like to transfer my site along with my blogs from Yola to another hosting platform, yet I really do not want to have to start over! Is this at all possible?

Hi danieldaviddunt,
As we use our own platform and webbuilding tools, you will not be able to transfer your site and work on it in another hosting platform, however, you are welcome to follow the above directions to download your site and host it in your own environment.

When I try this method I get

Windows could not find 'void((new ide.requests.actions.downloadSite()).send({site:ide.user.getSite()}))'. Please check your spelling and try again.

Hello Paddy,

This facility has also been withdrawn by Yola. Currently there is no ability to download and backup your site(s) locally

Is there a way to transfer a site from one Yola account to a different Yola account?

I created a site for a friend on my account but he wants to access his website now and I would prefer for him to work off his own account.

Short of totally recreating his website from scratch on his account, what other option do I have? Can you assist with copying and moving the information?
