I'm unable to highlight my pictures on my index page to link them to their destination page. The pictures were placed on the page using the side bar picture widget.

Hi there Pickles,

You can add links to images, here's how:

1. Add the image to your page, using the image widget.
2. Click on 'Properties' on the right-hand sidebar.
3. Click on 'Choose a Link' and make your selection.
4. Click on 'Apply'

To check that your link is working, preview your page and then click on the link.

This is a brief explanation of how to add links, we have written a tutorial that shows the process in more detail. Here is the link:

Jeremy,

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately, you must highlight the object you want to link before you can click on the linking icon at the top of the page. I am unable to hightlight the picture. My other pictures done at an earlier period on a different page are working just fine. Its not be able to highlight the picture that is the problem, I believe.

Hi Lauren,
If I am understanding correctly when you click on the image you want to make the link it does not become selected. So when you click on the Properties Tab you don't have the link field available. What browser are you using? Can you try using another browser? Let me know how this is going for you and I will assist further.

Emmy,

First, I can not highlight the picture on the index page. Aren't we supposed to highlight what we want to link before we click the link widget?

Second, there is no link widget on Properties sidebar to click on, only the link icon at the top of the page.

Thirdly, I am in Firefox.

I will try this on Explorer, but I have the flu and am running on fumes. Get dizzy looking at the screen. I will get back to you on Saturday, maybe I will be able to think a little more clearly.

Thanks a bunch,

Lauren

Hi Lauren,

Are you adding your image with an image widget of a text widget?

An Image widget shouldn't have a link icon in it - only a text widget has those. If you are adding it with a text widget then here is how to add a link with a text widget:

1.Highlight the image (by clicking on it) and then click on the link button (it's the 10th button from the left in the text editing tool bar, and looks like the link in a chain).

2. A link editor dialogue box will open up and you will be given 4 options. You can link to an email address, an external URL, a page on your own site or a file on your computer.

3. Click on and edit the option appropriate for you.

4. Save your changes and preview your page to check if the link works.

If this doesn't work could you possibly send a screenshot of what you see when your add your picture?

From what i can see Lauren is trying to add apicture through a text widget and make it into a link - instead of just clicking on the picture she is trying to highlight it as if it were text. This will casue the link to be added at the fist letter of text not the picture.

Hi, Lee

When I click on the picture the linking icon in the top bar is not available for me to use. If I click on text and highlight, the linking icon is available to use.

Hi Lauren,
Are you able to click on the picture and then post a screen shot of what your screen looks like so we can take a look. That would help!
