When other people open my website they seem to be getting gobbledigook, page set up info and formatting that are not visible on my page. Is there anything I can do to remove it?

Hello Fa Zhao,
I have taken a look at your site using the URL you provided and I don't feel like I am seeing anything out of the ordinary, but you would have to tell me a bit more for me to know for sure. I'll attach a screen shot of what I'm seeing, can you possibly give us a screen shot of what you are seeing if it is different.

Thanks,
Emmy

Hi Emmy,

I just found part of the problem. When people open the webpage up in Internet explorer, it shows all the unwanted formatting there?

Hello Fa Zhao,

Unfortunately it is difficult to get your site to display exactly the same in different browsers on different computers as browsers will interpret the codes differently from one another.

Even though we try to keep our site builder and code as up-to-date as possible, a lot of people don't keep their browsers and software up to date. This can cause viewing problems and inconsistencies.

If the problem becomes more severe, I would suggest asking your viewers what browser they are using. If they are using an old browser like IE6 then you could suggest they upgrade to Firefox - Yola's preferred browser.

If the inconsistencies vary greatly from one browser to the next, then this may be indication of some incorrect code on your page. In this case, please let us know and we can look into this further.

Hi, Fa Zhao,

Are you by any chance copying and pasting from Microsoft Word? If so, this can add a variety of unwanted formatting to the code which can create a problem. Please be sure to paste into Notepad first and then copy and paste from Notepad into the Sitebuilder.

I see, in the code, there is just one big "-" and there is suppose to be 2 "-" of those, so it should look like this: <!--[if !vml]--> These are in JavaScript codes to make stuff to be hidden in older browsers. And, the last one should look like this: <!--[endif]--> But, IE8 is rendering those with 1 big line and making them show up on the page for some reason.

Hi Everyone.,

Yes this is the problem. Yes I did move things into the site from MS word. I'll try putting them into notepad first and see if it does anything.
Apart from that I've already put a lot of time into it and feel I'm losing the battle, here. Maybe this sort of common problem should be put up in big bright letters on the original promotions.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know to never put anything in to MS word and then copy it to your site because it adds other stuff in that will make your page get messed up. So, next time, just make sure to paste the code into Notepad, not MS word. I hope you get it working soon! :)

Hi Nathan and everyone. Thank you so much for the prompt help. I had a play with it and ran all the text etc back through note pad and it now seems "fixed"

Big Appreciation!!
