i have tried to load my products to my online store, since there are literally hundreds of products i am trying to load it via the "import products" button and uploading it in CSV format, i have tried countless amounts of times to no avail.
i keep getting this error message below,
An error occurred during the import process - no data was imported.

Error details: Wrong columns count. You have selected 7 columns in import dialog, but the file contains only 1. Most likely you've chosen an incorrect delimiter in your import settings.
Line number: [1]

Hi Sales,

Your CSV file must be delimited with a comma.

If you could paste a couple of lines of your file here then we may be able to check this for you.

That's really great Sales thank you for this.

When you save the file then it is important to Save As CSV comma delimited
There are a few other csv formats offered in excel so you have to select the correct one.

Ok Sales,

Can you open the saved file with Notepad and paste a few lines of the file here?
This will show the exact structure of the file as it appears to the uploader. By opening it with excel it shows the file as a spread sheet through the internal interpreter.

I'm still not sure if it's a comma delimited csv

Hi Sales,

There may be a couple of problems here that may affect the interpretor. The SKU is really a description and with punct marks may cause an issue.

I'll try it out on a dummy store and make any changes that will correct this without essentially changing the order or content of your file.

Can you display your importer setup on ecwid so I can see how you wish to import the file. A screen shot will do the trick.

Finally how you envisage your product placement will look in your catalogue and that would allow me to do a mock up as a suggestion only.

Hope this is OK and not too much work for you.

Hi sales,

You are going about this the correct way.

The csv setup and import is the most difficult part of the process but once you have this in place it really makes the rest of it much easier. It is worthwhile persisting with.

The other aspect is that once you have it working you can use the spreadsheet-csv as a template for further additions.

If you wish to see an outcome of a csv upload have a look at http://davidsorchids.yolasite.com/blo...

and then mouseover and click on the second item Adenoncos parviflora to see the description of the product.

This was done by first creating a spreadsheet with every aspect in separate columns. this was then merged to create a csv file and finally uploaded.

No I haven't looked at your publsihed site though. Do I know the address of your website or have I just lost it in the dialogue...Sorry.

You can modify the appearance after adding items whether they be added manually or by upload.

It really is very normal in early days to add and edit until it looks just right to you

Hi Gop
The CSV is not uploading still, im getting the following error message
An error occurred during the import process - no data was imported.

Error details: Wrong columns count. You have selected 7 columns in import dialog, but the file contains only 1. Most likely you've chosen an incorrect delimiter in your import settings. Most probably your CSV file uses "Comma" as a delimiter.
Line number: [1]

OK,

I think i know where it is.

If you go to your import dialogue and change the delimeter from Tab to Comma, I think you will see it working ?

Have you changed the mapping of your upload? You may need to review the order of the columns in your upload dialogue

Should now be:

Name, SKU, Description, Price,

Then columns E,F and G as you wish. You can't have two price columns though for a single entry so the second one I would label as a category1,
The LSxxx as Category 2

and the Colour as Category 3.

If you don't wish to use one or more of these you can use the Skip Column feature as you have done previously I see.

The order of the Ecwid map must match the order of the CSV file.

If you are leaving the column headers intact then you must check "Skip first Line"

Fantastic. A very powerful tool for Ecwid stores but not only.

Here's some follow on advice:

Add your images to your Yola File Manager and change the image URL to reflect this for each image.

The reason being: If you need to rebuild or redesign/modify your store then you don't need to add all the images manually subsequently. What you do is to download the file from Ecwid. This contains all the information and you simply upload it if needed and it will also upload your images.

If you also have secondary images added to your store I can advise you of a way to include these into your CSV file if you like. Secondary images are a pain to manage by the standard process. Let me know.

When you wish to extend your abilities and power with CSV files then you can include HTML tags as well and set up your formatting included in the CSV files. This harks back to experimenting with this in Excel or equivalent but is certainly worth it if you want to play :) The best source for education with this is Google and generally it is found in the various Excel related forums.

If you wish to make your Online Store product images zoom in Grid View on mouseover, here is some code that has originated from dynamic drive and customised for Ecwid

You can paste this code in the Design facility CSS of the Ecwid style you are using for your store. Image zoom can be increased or reduced and the corona can be increased or in fact changed to another colour.

/*Credits: Dynamic Drive CSS Library */
/*URL: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/ */

td.ecwid-productBrowser-productsGrid-cell img {
-webkit-transform:scale(0.8); /*Webkit: Scale down image to 0.8x original size*/
-moz-transform:scale(0.8); /*Mozilla scale version*/
-o-transform:scale(0.8); /*Opera scale version*/
-webkit-transition-duration: 0.5s; /*Webkit: Animation duration*/
-moz-transition-duration: 0.5s; /*Mozilla duration version*/
-o-transition-duration: 0.5s; /*Opera duration version*/
}

td.ecwid-productBrowser-productsGrid-cell img:hover {
-webkit-transform:scale(1.1); /*Webkit: Scale up image to 1.2x original size*/
-moz-transform:scale(1.1); /*Mozilla scale version*/
-o-transform:scale(1.1); /*Opera scale version*/
box-shadow:0px 0px 30px gray; /*CSS3 shadow: 30px blurred shadow all around image*/
-webkit-box-shadow:0px 0px 30px gray; /*Safari shadow version*/
-moz-box-shadow:0px 0px 30px gray; /*Mozilla shadow version*/
}
