can't get domain working
I already own my domain with another provider and I can't for the life of me get it to work with yola so that I can publish my sever.

The site I own the sever with requires name servers. I was told that if I am using a record then I can use the defult name servers and then enter in a records to point at yola, but that isn't working no matter what I do.

my provider doesn't allow the @ in the record so I can't do that.

here is what my provider said to me, but I am now using the defult name severs, not the ones in this email.

Your domain is currently pointing to the following nameservers:
Name Server: ns2370.hostgator.com
Name Server: ns2369.hostgator.com

You cannot enter an A record as a nameserver address. You can either enter an A record at the location of the current nameserver addresses, or update the nameservers to our own name server addresses and enter an A record in our DNS table. See instructions for the latter at:

Changing nameserver: http://smartyhost-support.custhelp.co...
Changing DNS records (ie A record): http://smartyhost-support.custhelp.co...

Could the issue be because I am in australia and using a .com.au??

I really need to fix this as the site generates a lot of income for me.

I have also followed the yola guides to the letter and created the a records it talks about, created more then I should of properly but nothing seems to work.

the domain name is
www.bubblegumphotography.com.au

if you do a search for that you just get a blank internet page now

if you can help then please help me, it's doing my head in!

thanks

Hello Zoe,

For your domain you need to please make sure you have two A records set up. If you would like your domain to work correctly with the "www" prefix you need to make sure that your DNS settings are configured correctly to support the "www" prefix. For this you need to set up two A records:

  • Some domain registrars require one A record with the hostname "@" and one with the hostname "www".

  • Other domain registrars allow you to create one hostname called "domain.com" and another "www" (replace "domain" with your own address).

  • Both should point to our IP address: 184.72.229.176.

For more information on pointing your domain to Yola, please take a look at our tutorial: Publish to a domain you already own.

If you have tried this you can email me at support@yola.com (mark it "attention Jeremy") and I can assist you with changing your details with your registrar. (I can even do it for you if you are willing to let me) I however don't think a public forum is the best place for this.

Many thanks for working with us on this.
