Use LAN for editing websites

  • Not Planned
If you have more than one or more computers you can connect through your LAN (Ethernet/Router/Wireless or not). And positioned on the same desk or table. It involves using MouseWithoutBorders or Input Director among others.
Once your Lan is setup dowload them, setup and go.
You can edit w/Yola on one search web on another/cut paste, transfer files etc etc etc. You will however need to create/or
setup a sharing drive/folder(directory) to be able to SHARE between your computers. No KVA needed I do this all the time.
I have 3 computers linked in this way(several OS's) no problem.
It makes it easier, I can edit my site, publish and see my real time results and or what my site looks like in real time. Mouse Without Borders is the easiest to set up, but I've used both same results.
Make sure you local IP's (192.168.??.??) or whatever are in sync
and away U GO!

Hi Frank,

Thanks for sharing this, it's really helpful.

I do need to add, though, that keeping multiple instances of the Sitebuilder open simultaneously can cause a session timeout. What this means is that you could edit your site and add quite a lot of content and, when you click "Save" you'd get a "Session timeout" error. As we are still working on an auto-save feature, and it is not yet available, this means that your work will be lost.

You can, however, definitely keep a browser window with your Sitebuilder and another window with your published site open simultaneously.

Thanks again!

"multiple instances of the Sitebuilder open simultaneously can cause a session timeout."?
I don't have multi-instant sitebuilders open, one computer is viewing live website, another is my search/work/file/etc,etc..
and the other is on sitebuilder I can use 3 computers at once to
do more efficient work.
tanx anyway. (sorry late reply)
