I am trying to create a standard brand for my product and am considering purchasing some images for Fotolia. Will I be able to access them to use them for my brochures/leaflet campaign after I have created my website please?

Hello debbym,
That's a really good question, one that I feel Fotolia would be the best to answer. I have taken a look at their Terms and Conditions of Use page and am not 100% sure if what you are asking is allowable or not. I would suggest that you put in a support request to Fotolia's support team with that question as they will be able to give you a definitive answer. If we can assist you further please let us know.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Based in the UK we have real problems with the legalise of the t&cs for these stock photo sites because the terminology is very different regarding licensing and copyright.

I will contact them as you say, but presumably if you have purchased the right to use them for your Yola website and you are not alering them in anyway it would be ok?

Hi debbym,
I just spoke with one of our product managers and he had spoken to Fotolia about this very use case, and they let us know that a user receives full RF license rights t the image, but someone may not trademark an image. So it is ok to create a logo with the image, use it on business cards, brochures etc, but it just cannot be trademarked.

I hope that helps.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Well it's 13 days now since I asked this question and I am sat here in tears trying to make this site work, which I have been building for two months now.
I have a file manager full of pictures which I haven't uploaded which I have no idea where they came from - all of the same picture but in different sizes.
I have bought some pictures from Fotolia but I can't use them or save them elsewhere so they are useless to me for my brand images.
I can't change the banner size on the third website I am trying to build, having given up to the others because Picknik won't work. It keeps crashing on me, although I have used a template which should allow me to make changes to the banner size and the background.
I have spent HOURS and HOURs trying to do this.
I have checked all the tutorials, I have changed browsers, I have cleared caches, I have updated adobe.
I am FED UP. I am no further on than I was two months ago.
I have not incorporated any word document although I would have done because there is no proper spell checker in Yola
HELP. Ihave a site which is published under the wrong name and has being shown as under construction for two months because nothing will work for me.

Hi debbym

I've responded to your other forum post too.

If you have downloaded pictures from Fotolia and seeing the same picture in different sizes, you may have downloaded the pictures from the Fotolia site.

If you would like to download files from the File Manager onto your computer, you can do so following these steps:

  1. Click on Site > File Manager.

  2. Select the picture or pictures you would like to download.

  3. Right click and select "Download as Zip" from the drop-down menu.

  4. Your pictures will be downloaded to your desktop or the folder you selected for downloaded items in your browser.

Which browser are you using to edit Picnik? Please make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed on your computer to ensure that Picnik works correctly. You can also try switching to a different browser.

Hope this helps!

Additionally, everytime I try to use piccnik I get a message saying an error has occurred closing dialog. I have no means of saving to my computer, other than once, but then it would not go into the banner.
If I try to start another site, I get a message that I have no files uploaded, when I clearly have because I bought and paid for them with credits from Fotolia.
This question is showing as answered btw and it is not.

Hi debbym

As I mentioned above, please try a different browser and check that you have the latest version of Flash installed.

Can you explain some more about the problems you have with adding it to the banner?

When you add a new site, you will need to upload the files from your computer again. There is not a way in which you can share files between sites. You will need to download the pictures (I explained how to this in the comment above) and then upload them to your new site again.

I have removed the "Answered" status of this thread until your problem is resolved.

Hi Nazalie
As previously stated I have cleared caches, used different browsers, made sure adobe is up to date. I have read all the support topics on this already so I ensured that I had done that.

My problem is that:
I tried change the banner image on my unpublished website.
I had previously purchased credits from Fotolia.
I clicked on "change banner" (using a template that allows both changing the banner and the background)
I got a link with 3 options and I chose "stock photo"
Via that link I purchased several images which uploaded into my file manager
I chose the one I wanted and clicked on it to edit it in Picnick because it was the wrong size. I purchased the smaller versions as per the previous instruction I got from suport
I made the changes and Picknik crashed when I tried to save to Yola (that was my only option) with the message that there was an error and the dialogue was closed
I also tried to edit it to fit the banner using the resize tool but that is not precise enough
I now have an increasing number of the same picture in my file manager of all different shapes and sizes and I what you are describing should happen in file manager is not what I am experiencing - eg download as .zip.

Actually - I've just been back to look and I find now that if I click on "1 file selected" which is in the top right hand corner - that is where the drop down box is. Not when I select the picture. However, when I try to edit it in Picknik it just goes back into file manager because the only option I have is save to Yola - and I can't tell which one it is that I have amended and none of them look like they have been changed to the size I want.

So what else am I doing wrong?

thanks

Hi debbym

Thanks for this information. It sounds like you are doing a lot of troubleshooting, which is great. Can you share your site's URL (website address) so that we can test it for you? Hopefully we can find the problem.

Hi Emmy

I have replied to you by email already but to make it clear, the site which I am trying to update is still one I have created to replace my stanleyhousesecretary.co.uk temporary website.

That website is published. It needs updating. I cannot load it into site builder.

The site which I am trying to add images to and am having such problems with is one which I am building to replace the temporary website at stanleyhousesecretary.co.uk.. It doesn't have a realURL because it is not published yet.

thanks

Hello,
I am not sure what suggestions I may have given you by email so far in terms of your site not loading in the Sitebuilder. Can you have a look at this tutorial: My site won't load in the Sitebuilder and see if this is at all helpful to you.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

OK so if I cant change the banner size, how do I change the page header size? It seems I cannot have a page header which is on two lines because the red box that it is in is covered up by the banner image.

Hello Emmy

I have responded to you by email, and am replying here as well.

I have read the article you have suggested quite a few times.

When I change the font in the way you suggest it sits right on top of the banner image. It looks like it has been squeezed in, which in effect it has.

It looks awful and very unprofessional.

I need to change the banner size or move the text of my page header up the page.

Hi Debby,
In order for us to all stay on the same page, please choose to communicate via email or on our public forum. I fear that if we start communicating in both environments, things will start getting confusing for both the Yola staff as well as you. Which environment would you prefer to use?

I have said email. I was only using both to try to get some answers, hopefully other people might have had some ideas to put forward.

Am frustrated and angry that I cannot make something work that was purported to be so easy.
