I am looking at SynthaSite to possibly host my website. I currently have a WordPress blog and want to continue to use their blogging system on your servers. Is this possible?

Hello Kaytrim,

You can host your website to synthasite, as long your current server support DNS Management which allow you to transfer and host your domain to any server that support website hosting, but i cant be sure if WordPress support DNS control.

If you want to use wordpress bloging system on synthasite i think it won't be possible because synthasite has it's own system (which is cool !) you can try to search for some free hosting only sites there you can use wordpress.
If you own a domain then you can easily point it towarads synthasite for free through DNS settings.
Thats all I know you can wait for an official reply.

Hi Kaytrim,

WordPress won't work with SynthaSite - we have our own blogging platform! We have a tutorial that explains how it works: http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/b....

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

HI Kaytrim

If you want to keep using the blog you have already built with Wordpress, your best option would be to link to this blog from your SynthaSite site. The others are correct, there is no way to transfer the Wordpress blog to us.

Hello Soriano.tina

If you wish to upload your own videos, we do have a few options available. Please take a look here:

1. How do I add a video ot my site?
2. Adding Vimeo and other video services.
3. Upload my own Video.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Thank you everyone for your input. I just switched to WordPress from Blogger and I don't want to switch to another blogging package so quickly. to get the functionality I am looking for, e-commerce, blog, photo gallery, etc I need to find a host as WordPress.org has too many restrictions. I'll be looking elsewhere.

What restrictions does wordpress.org have? As for as I can see it's the most open platform.

can I use Wordpress with Yola? If so, how do I get started.

I just recently downloaded my Yola site to a zipped file and then uploaded it to my host provider thinking I would have more flexibility with the Yola site once it was on my own server. All this is a test to see if I want to go further with Yola as a business venture so I can offer these sites to my own clients. Here is what I discovered:

1 - as soon as I tried to link to my WordPress site it was a no-go. Yola has a router/redirect code running so that it circumvents the WordPress link - at least as far as I can tell I can't get it to work.

2 - I tried to bring my Yola site into Dreamweaver again thinking I could take the basics of Yola, add to them, and then upload to my own server BUT no go. While I can see the code, there are no visuals for me to modify. It is weird - but again, I think a site made with Yola, even once you download the zipped site file, redirects back out to Yola somewhere to pull the graphics. So you can't enhance these sites - you are strictly limited to Yola's options. While they are good options, they may not be enough for you.

If I'm missing something, please let me know.

If I can just add one more comment, while the blog platform available through Yola is nice, it lacks a lot of basic customization. I can't even change point sizes of the headings and they are so huge it really looks ridiculous. Using this blog wouldn't be so bad except that there are very few controls. I think you could maintain your signature simplicity but still offer a little more design control in terms of the typography.

Hello Jane

We realize the need to improve our blogging system and it is something we have on our future list of things to do. It would be great if you could list some suggestions that you feel the current blogging system needs further improvement. We are always eager to hear feedback from our users.

I realised that when using the blog, it will always be signoff as the registered user on Yola.com. I am wondering if it is possible to signoff as the site name instead? this is becos' when you have different sites created, but do want to have it signoff in your blog as the site name instead of the registered name. As the registered name may not be very relevant to the blog on each site. For you consideration.

Hi agelocasia,

By default the author name of your post is the name you used when you created your account. You can edit this by clicking on the "Edit Profile" link on your "My Sites" page (the page you see when you first log into your account). Any new posts you create after changing your account information should reflect your new name. However, you first need to log out and then log back in again before new posts start to appear under your new name.

For existing posts, or if you do not wish to change the name associated with your account, you can edit your name as follows:

1. Double click on the title of the post.
2. In the post editor dialog box, click on the "Advanced" tab.
3. You can then manually edit the name for your post.

Its been a while since your origonal post (Marije..,;), but hopefully you're stil around helping us newbies)
I have registerred a .yolasite.com free account and am finally beginning my blog!< http://lifeforusall.yolasite.com/ >
I now wish to add a comment box - a free one, and have gone to Disque and registerred and downloaded as origonally suggested above.
Now i keep coming across instructions to go to :

but as you can see from the attached screenshot i have no BLOG MANAGER tab...
I'm a bit confused now.. is there an up-to-date tutorial on how to install a comment box and the vailable options?
I really do need this!

Hello vigne

Marije is currently offline. I hope you don't mind me stepping in on her behalf. Thank you for sharing the screenshot as it helps me to understand what's going on. From what I can tell, you have not created a blog which is why you're not able to get the blog manager.

If you would like to include a basic blog, you can easily do so as follows:

1. Click on the "New Page" button on the top toolbar.
2. Choose the "Blog Page" option and type in the name of your page.
3. Choose whether you would like a link to be added to your menu navigation and if you would like the password feature to apply to this page. Then click on "OK".
4. A dialog box will open where you can add your first blog post immediately. You can also click cancel to create the page with no blog posts.

For detailed, step-by-step instructions on creating your blog with Yola, please click here: Creating your blog with Yola For a step by step video on how to add a blog page please see: Adding a blog page. If your main interest is in blogging and if you require advanced blogging features, your needs would be better served by blogging specialists such as Wordpress or Blogger.

A great way to promote your site and any updates or blog post you make is through Twitter. If you have a Twitter account, you can easily Tweet any changes or updates you make when you publish! For more information on this please see this thread in our forum: Twitter Button - Tweet your new site or your latest changes!. If you don't have a Twitter account and would like to get one to make use of this promotion tool, please go to Twitter.com and sign up for a Free account!

Now you can just add a comment box to your webpage that is not a blog. You would need to drag over the HTML Widget and paste in the code that you would normally paste into your Blog Manager settings.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.
