How do I add searchable user profiles? I am computer illiterate and trying to make a simple website where Merchant Mariners can create a searchable profile so other mariners can find them. I also want to include links to Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and other webites in the profile, and a place to upload their own face photo. Help, I'm lost. Jenny

Hi Jenny,

It is possible to upload files of information into the Sitebuilder, but it is not possible to have that file searched like a database. If you need to upload a document, it would have to be a file on your site that people would be able to click on and open on their computer, as long as they have the relevant program.

If you want the data from the file to be searchable on your site, you will need to manually input the data into your site using a widget. You will then be able to use a site search feature to search the site.

There are a few options for a site search such as, Google Custom Search Engine and quite a few others. Google Custom Search Engine requires your site to be indexed, so it will not work until that has happened.

For information on adding social media buttons, please see this tutorial: Adding Facebook Buttons. Note the process is the same for the other social media channels.

Also if you are feeling overwhelmed by getting started and adding text and pictures, I suggest you review our Getting Started Tutorial.
