Using Disqus + Facebook as a site-wide social utility and comment system

Disqus recently integrated their service with Facebook Connect, allowing users to comment by logging in with their Facebook accounts. This is very sweet because comments left on your site using this new feature will be showing up in user's Facebook feeds and drawing more attention to your site (feed updates will be fully functional soon, according to the Disqus blog). Also, it gets Facebook users past the additional steps of registering with Disqus or leaving "unclaimed" comments.

There's more. Aside from having Disqus on my blog, I just set it up as the main comment system on different (non-blog) pages of my site, where some friends had inquired about leaving comments. See this photo set, for example.

What's even cooler is that comments left on different pages of the site all show up on my Disqus Recent Comment widget. I have this widget on my blog's sidebar, and on my contact page; where it dubs as guestbook and provides links to pages my visitors have commented on. The Widget can be customized to show Recent Comments, Top Commenters, and Popular Pages.

Hope someone finds this useful! I'm very happy with how it's coming along.
