Hello Charles

Right now we only have an option for you to add a Google metatag as this is by far the most popular search engine. If the popularity of other search engines grows we many consider adding support for verifying your site with them in future.

In the meantime you can submit your URL to bing here: bing.com and to Yahoo here: siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com.

Yola has developed a short series of SEO Tutorials which will take you through the process of building, maintaining and promoting your website with search engine optimization in mind, here is a link: SEO Tutorials. You can also watch a webinar at Yola.tv, Introduction to SEO.

You can also find some useful information on these related threads:

Well, this isn't a search engine verification... it's actually a meta tag I need to add to the site to verify that the site is mine.

Hi there Charles,

If it is simply a verification code to say the site is yours and doesn't require you to add it in the section then you can add it in an HTML widget as follows:

1. Drag-and-drop an HTML Widget from the sidebar on the right onto your page (the icon for this is a blue sphere).
2. An HTML editor will open up that will allow you to write or paste your code (use right-click > paste or ctrl-V to paste).
3. When you are done, click "OK" and your HTML will be displayed on the page.

I hope this helps.

In Jeremy's reply, move the HTML widget on top - very top of the page.

The site editor isn't allowing me to move the HTML widget to the top of the page; it only allows me to move it into the red outlined area.

That is correct - you can only add widgets inside the area demarcated by the red dotted line. If this doesn't work for verifying your site, then I am afraid there isn't another alternative from our side. Can you tell me what service you are trying to verify your site with? Perhaps they have an alternative verification method if you are not able to access the HEAD section of your page to add a metatag.

They also do have the option of uploading an html file, but since I have a free Yola account, I'm not able to upload it. Maybe I'll upgrade later.

Do you have to upload it to the root directory of your site? If so then this is not possible even with an account upgrade. However, if you can upload the file to your resources directory and if this will work, then an upgrade may be your solution.
