On Friday I tried to set up a gmail account associated with my domain name. I followed the directions precisely. Google could not verify ownership. It stated it may take 48 hours. I tried again this morning to verify and it would not. So I clicked on Alternative Methods to verify and it provided me with a new verification code. I entered this code again and still no verification. I have even went so far as to add it as a cname and a txt and still nothing. I need to get this working so please help!!!!

Hi Brenda, the way i got around it is that i copy and pasted the verification code inside the google webmaster code area located in the site/site settings tab inside where you design your webpage. The other steps didnt seem to work for me as well.

I got pretty frustrated with it as well, hope this helps though.

Steve,

Thanks I will try.

was your code like this: googlec12121212121212d.html (this is what I received on Friday)

or xyz123MORELETTERS_AndYETeven123Letters is the one I received this morning.

Now I am wondering which one I should use!

Also how long did the verification process take for you?

Thanks.

i cant remember exactly what option it was, but it gave me some sort of code like this: "your'google'activation'code"="that was like super long with letters and numbers" which i copied that part only, nothing before the left of the = sign and not copying the " marks either. After that it took only a few mins.

Thanks Steve,

I am still not having any luck at all. It is not working. I had included the text inside the perentheses as well. I don't know what to do. I thought by doing it this way it would be hassle free but it has proven to be a huge waste of my time. I'm glad yours worked. I hope I can get the answers soon!!!

IT FINALLY WORKED!!!!

I tried every option and the one that worked was by going to Webmaster tools on Google. I ended up setting up a meta tag and attaching that code to my domain provers page and it worked instantly.

I am still not that impressed with this whole system but now I am off to better use of my time!

Good to hear!
Honestly, i did this too but it didnt work right away so my next step was the way i suggested and it worked, so it may have just been a timing thing for me and that the meta tag method was actually the reason why it worked.

Either way, its working! YaY!

Even tho this may actually may be a google thing more than anything else, but some cleaner instructions (with pics and such) may help people become less frustrated. BUT youre up and going. Now time to build! :)

Best Of Luck!

Steve,

I spoke a bit too soon. The webmaster site verified but the google apps site has not. I did manage to sign in to my actual gmail account and had the welcoming e-mails but it is not allowing me to send. Soooooo ..... hopefully this is just a matter of time and it will work later today or tomorrow? Did you have any delays at all with your gmail?

I do think this is all a google thing however I signed up with yola.ca which is a combined promotion between yola and google so I would have expected the kinks to have been worked out. I am not that impressed but once I am up and running I will forget about it! Assuming there are no problems along the way!

Thanks for your help!

Best of Luck to you too!
