Verify your Yola site for Bing Webmaster Tools.

This might help some folks out there. I was unable to verify my website for Bing Webmaster Tools using the HTML widget at the top left of my home page. I was able to verify by going to “Style” then “Edit Custom CSS”. Simply paste the meta tag in the “Site CSS Overrides” and bingo, site is verified.

Thanks.... Bing has changed this about 5 times since they started and have been a royal pain to stay verified with them.

Your welcome.

I just saw another way to verify metadata . Go to “Site” “Site Properties” “Site Tracking Codes and Edit. Which method would be best to use?

The only way that works now seems to be the CNAME record. The others no longer work with Yola built sites and you need to have a custom site as sub-domains can't be verified.

Just to let you all know that we recommend that you use the Tracking Codes rather than the field for the CSS...

I was unable to verify in Bing webmaster tools. I also came across my website is very slow for editing. My website http://motopm.yolasite.com is dead slow. Working on this became hectic. Please suggest.

Hello,
Right now we only have an option for you to add a Google meta tag as this is by far the most popular search engine. If the popularity of other search engines grows we may consider adding support for verifying your site with them in future. In the meantime you can submit your URL to bing here: www.bing.com.

Hi. I like to think I am fairly systems literate (in fact I work in systems!) but we have been trying to get our website validated on the bing webmaster site without success. I have searched the help site and followed some of the advice but always comes back unsuccessful.

Does soneone have some simple guide as to how to do this? I have managed to get to page 3 on google search so pleased with that but find yola's lack of ability to validate with non google search engines very frustrating - 4 hours wasted so far!

To verify your site with Bing there is a third method Add a CNAME record to your DNS. I think that this may be the only working method for Yola Bronze hosted sites. The meta-tag addition to the Header Code in Custom Site Tracking Code is the most straight forward procedure for Yola Silver hosted sites.

This process gives you an encoded record to add as a CNAME. There are specific instructions for various registrars. It is similar to the system that Google now uses as a verification option with GApps.

I have successfully verified three sites with this method but of course you cannot verify Yolasite sub-domains as there is no DNS management available for yolasite sub-domains to the user. I don't know if the Support people could add this for people with yolasite sub-domains.

For comprehensive instructions please see this thread.

Here this worked on my newest site a couple of months ago...first try with meta tag. In all fairness Micro Soft has been a royal pain in the rear end over the last couple of years...I lost count of how many times they changed their verify method and how many times I had to redo it....They still suck IMO

I have tried the DNS and CSS editor both failed, to change CSS you have to be silver ???

Never had this problem before Yola took over from BT on GBBO

I add code to CNAME, second empty box along but what goes into the 1st empty box, if I put the code in there and update it says I never done anything to save.

First empty box you add the long code. In the second box type: verify.bing.com

Pat's answer above is right on. The custom site tracking is the way to go. But.... I'm working on a website for a friend who is a dance instructor and on a very tight budget that doesn't allow her to upgrade.to premium. She has the free version of Yola. I was able to use the Google webmaster feature to successfully validate her site, but I haven't found a way do validate for Bing yet for free. Any ideas?

Hi Sandia,

What you can try to do is add the Bing code to an HTML Widget to see if that might work for you. Otherwise, the next best thing is to simply submit the site URL to Bing.com.

I hope that helps!

The current method with Bing is to add a cname record to the dns.
