Hi Marije,

Thanks for doing the CNAME business

I don't know now where it's up to. The instruction I received was to verify the ownership of Google Apps.
This seems to direct me to Domain managemet ID and password. i have no idea of this as it was setup by Synthasite.

I sent you a code and thought that was the ownership verification or at least that where I got it from???

Hi Peter,

No problem. You'll need to login to your Google Apps account and continue the verification process. You will be able to login on a URL like http://mail.google.com/a/mysite.com with "mysite.com" being your domain name.

When you're logged in, there will be a link to Verify Domain Ownership near the top of the page. This will direct you to this page:

Choose the CNAME option (the code should be the same as the one you sent to us - if it isn't, we'll need to change it) and click on Verify.

Once verified (it can take a while for Google to work through this), you'll be able to go back to the dashboard and start setting up your email addresses.

I hope that's the info you were looking for.

Just to add - now that we have created the CNAME record on our end, when you click "Verify" Google will "find" the code, and you should be able to continue from there. In the past you would have gotten an error message at this point.

Hi Marije,

My dashboard doesn't look anything like this. It maybe there are regional differences.

Anyway I have the mail working through the default domain but can't set it for an alternative. I'm happy to leave it here for the time being and simply watch it then maybe come back at another time.

The bizarre thing is that Google Apps is telling me I will receive a bill for $10 on the 30th May. I have paid Google initially a year ago for the domain krooclub.com. this was transferred to Synthasite at Christmas.

Ohhh. Another problem coming up I feel!

Hi Peter,

Did you perhaps sign up for the Premium Edition? It's the paid version of Google Apps. I'm not sure what to suggest at this point - you're welcome to post some screenshots or send us an email so that we can work this out.

Hi Marije,

No it was the standard edition (free). In fact looking at it again it says that the $10 will be automatically deducted from my account. can you clear this up please. I suppose the alterntiave would be to decut the $10 from the next Yola account?

If you signed up for the standard edition it sounds like there is an issue on Google's side. To the best of our knowledge they should not be charging you. Although we manage your domain, your Google Apps account is a separate matter (apart from the CNAME record we create for you). We would of course like to help you get to the bottom of this confusion, so if you could email us those screenshots, we can see how much we can figure out ourselves and then approach Google for the rest.
