verifying mysitesite.co.uk with google apps

I have registered with google apps because I need an email address info@mysite. In order to verify that I own this site, google apps asks me to upload a verification html file verifile.html and go to the file through my browser. However they recognise the location myfile/verifile.html, while my yola account can only get in in mysite/resources/verifile.html. Please tell me how to remove the word "resources" from the location of my uploaded html files.

Hi Jenny,

You'll need to verify it a different way, as Yola users do not have access to the root directory.

The way that I recommend to do it is to add a <meta> tag on your homepage (the 'index' page) and then Google's system will see that on your site.

To do this, select the "META" option on your Google Apps control panel to verify.

Then, just copy the code and paste it into an HTML widget at the top of your site.

Make sure you save the page and publish your site before you click the button to tell Google that you have added the meta tag.

I hope this helps.

What do you mean custom domain sub domain etc? You have been trying to help meaning that the kind of domain I have is valid for an email. So How do I change my domain to the required one?

That comment was made in response to another persons,

Hello Jenny,

As Nathan has mentioned the HTML file is not a solution for Yola sites and unfortunately the meta tag is very much hit and miss. Google have developed their third option which does work reliably with Yola sites and that's the option of a TXT file added to a CNAME record.

Yola have specific instructions for this Setting up your email with Google Apps

The TXT or CNAME option I hope will become more and more widely used by various service providers.

Wouldn't it be great if we could get the attention of the spiders and robots via a robot.txt this way? and all kinds of meta tags alternatives for engines to take note of.

Confusion. At first I pasted the text, and they said the email is configured, congratulations. When I go to my google apps to process, they say I stil;l had to verify site. I clicked on verify and it did not work. So I went back to check the code which google gave me, but it had changed. I cannot edit the first code I pasted on my site. What kind of problem is this?

How can I update the DNS record to google-site-verification=g7SKbQ9gBvV9qgmGXmPXPQcgnauqcSU3gxA4R4bPqNU, because this is the current one that google says I should verify. It is strange that it changed

When I try to edit the TXT record on my Yola to the one currently shown by google, I receive the message "Record of type TXT with name could not be edited: Invalid value". What should I do?

Hello gigipdeluca,

I don't think that you can do this with a Yola sub-domain. I think you need a custom domain so that you can add these things.

You may be able to do it with the Yola mail but I'm not sure as I have never used or really explored this facility.

Hi, gigipdeluca,

Gop is correct that this cannot be done with a sub domain. You need to have a custom domain for email.
