Currently the categories in my store are displayed horizontally above the products, I would like to have the categories be in a vertical list next to the products. I went to the Ecwid knowledge base and found this
http://kb.ecwid.com/w/page/15853321/V...

Which gives a code to change the categories so that they are vertical. The instructions from the Ecwid team says to do this:

"In order to add vertical categories menu you should go to Ecwid control panel → Dashboard, copy vertical categories widget code from the “Categories Menu Widget Code (optional)” and paste it in the source page of your site, where categories list should be shown."
But when I do this on yola store I see no place where I could paste this code

Where can I paste this code to change the layout of the categories in my store to be vertical?

Thanks
Emmanuel

Hi Emmanuel,

You can paste it into an HTML widget above your Online Store widget and you may need to use the javascript intro before it as previously because the yola version is implemented differently to the native version installation.

Let me know if it works as is?

Hey Gop,

The categories end up on top of the store widgets instead of in it. What do I have to do get the vertical categories to be part of the store?

Thanks

Are you using the intro script as well as the categories script?

Oh I can see the reference in ecwid has been changed within the last 3 days. In that case the important thing is to add your store ID into the box on the widget page reference and it will set it up. Is that what you did?

Hi Emmanuel,

The Vertical categories list is used as an index. Most queries I have read specifically apply it to an external column or such like so that it sits outside the Store display. It seems to be used as a quick location index for the content of your Store. It doesn't seem to be applicable to the internal configuration of the categories and subsequent items within the Store. The specific layout is controlled by the selection of the layout type; Grid, Table, List.

I can't find a definitive paragraph on the definition but rather come to this idea by inference.
