I would like to put up a spreadsheet of scores on my site, that users can see.. No idea how to do this? The page will be password protected, then I would idealy like it, if they clicked on it it opened.. I don't want them to have to d/l it over and over again as scores get updated through out the season.. Any assistance would be very much appreciated

Hi kozmik

If you're thinking of displaying a PDF file directly on your Yola website without your visitors having to download it, you may want to try these options:

Your visitors will need the necessary plugin to access (usually Acrobat Reader) your PDF.
  1. Upload your PDF file to the File Manager.

  2. Drag and drop an HTML Widget onto your page.

  3. Paste the following tag into the HTML editor that opens:
    <embed width="600" height="400" src="resources/test.pdf">

  4. Replace test.pdf with the exact file name of your file.

  5. Remember to include any folder names in the file path if your file is stored in a folder in the File Manager. For example: "resources/PDF/test.pdf"

Alternatively, you can use slideshare.net to embed your PDF document.
  1. Sign up for a free account with slideshare.

  2. Go to "Upload" at the top of your screen.

  3. Upload your file(s). Then click on "Publish" (or "Publish All" if you have more than 1 file).

  4. Once your file has been converted, then click on the file you want to embed.

  5. On the right-hand side, you will see a green box with "Embed" and a code provided. Please copy this code.

  6. In the Sitebuilder, drag-and-drop an HTML Widget onto your page (the icon for this is a blue sphere).

  7. An HTML editor will open up that will allow you to write or paste your code (use right-click > paste or ctrl-V to paste).

  8. When you are done, click "OK" and you will see the way that the HTML displays on your page.

Whenever you update your PDF, you will need to upload it again to your File Manager and replace the old one. Then you won't need to change the HTML code for option 1. For option 2 you will need to do the whole process again, upload the updated PDF file to slideshare.net and update the HTML code in your HTML Widget.

Hello Kozmik,

There are a number of solutions for this but I think the easiest and most dynamic currently is Google Drive. This allows you to upload a spreadsheet (as one file type and there are others) and then allow it to be displayed on your site. This is controlled by you setting various permissions.

This is the latest in the family of cloud Google products and allows the owner to update the original file as required. This may also be a collaborative effort.

https://drive.google.com

I think that this has it all you do need to go into the details of the setup and the permissions.

It's the same as the previous Google Docs.

I have many documents I only one people to be able to access the one. The spreadsheet is updated once a week.. would be great if the page viewed from docs, then I wouldnt have to remember to upload new one.. Anyway if you can just help me with starting in the right place.. I am sure I can muddle thru the rest. and as always, thank you so much.

To embed a Google drive spreadsheet in a website , you'll need to publish it first.

From the File menu in the toolbar, select Publish to the Web.
In the window that appears, select which parts of the spreadsheet you'd like to publish, and click the Start publishing button. A unique URL is generated.
Use this URL to embed the spreadsheet on your website or blog.
