How to have more than one domain name point to a single website on Yola

I solved a problem of how to have more than one domain name point to a website.

First I created the website I wanted www.qualityrentalmanagement.co.nz

2) Under 'edit navigation' I moved all the pages, including the index to the right hand box so that they did not appear in the menu bar

3) I went and signed up at www.flashvortex.com where you can make flash, buttons, banners and menu bars etc. They have a simple generator that allows you to alter colours and styles to fit your site. I carefully ensured that each button linked to each url page of my new site ie. the button entitled LANDLORDS linked to http://www.qualityrentalmanagement.co...

4) back on yola I selected the html widget and pasted the code for my menu bar from flashvortex into the top of every page.

5) I published my site and double checked all the menu bar tabs went to each page.

NEXT

I created a second site on Yola. This one I called www.qrm.co.nz
This second site consisted of a front page only, and a complete duplicate of the front page on the first site. Of course all of the flash buttons link directly to the pages on the first site. Even when a visitor hits "Home" on the menu bar it goes to the first site.

So.... if you can imagine.... so long as you use the same menu bar html code from flashvortex you can create as many domain front pages leading to your original site as you like.

Hello svclubnz,
Thanks for the tip! We also have a way that you can publish a site built with Yola to more than one domain and then choose one to be your primary using the Advanced Domain Settings, you can see a tutorial on how to do this here: Assigning domains and creating a primary.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

I looked at this and for some reason it wouldn't work, I think it was because I was using .co.nz domains.

It should have worked as long as you can edit the A Records of your domain to point towards our ip address. If you can publish the domain to a Yola site, you should have been able to assign the domains to the same site. If you ever want to try it again and have trouble you can email us at support@yola.com and we can try to assist.
