I know getting indexed by google takes a while. So I'm wondering, if I launch a site example.synthasite.com and add this domain to my webmaster tools account, and then decide to change to example.com, will I need to resubmit my site to webmaster tools, basically start over? or will it transfer over.

Hi Tiggs,

Rich is correct of course he does his background work thoroughly :)

I think that there is something special when you convert from a sub-domain to a domain. I can't be sure of this just some vague recollection and I can't find it in the GS index..

I think that Synthasite do a lot of the preparatory work for that change wrt indexing. Have you had any contact with them on this issue?

talking from my own experience; you will need to resubmit the example.com url and add new sitemaps. What you do is publish your site to both example.synthasite.com and example.com. this means all the old links work and slowly slowly as you start ditching the .synthasite links the .com will climb through.
hope this helps.

Hi Tiggs,

If you purchase a domain name through Synthasite the subdomain will automatically redirect to your new address (www.example.com). This way, you won't lose the value of any links or visitors that only know your old location and they'll see your new domain.

You should then resubmit your sitemap to Google Webmaster. It may take some time for Google to respider your pages and index the new site pages with their new names (example.com/page.php instead of example.synthasite.com/page.php) but until this happens, anything in the search engine with your subdomain link will go to your new custom domain because of the redirect.
