Webmaster Tools reports Domain name not found

Hi

I seem to have a problem with a couple of the pages on www.codnor.info
Google webmaster tools reports HTTP ERRORS URL http://codnor.info/Castle.php and http://codnor.info/Links.php "Domains not found". As a consequence my Google ranking is quiet low. However Yahoo ranks www.codnor.info on its first page and has no problem seeing http://codnor.info/Castle.php

I think the problem may have arisen when I renamed these two pages a few weeks ago, for example the Castle page was originally spelled with a lower case "c" I have now renamed it with an upper case "C". The same applies to the Links page "l" to "L".
Am I right in thinking that Synthasite submitted a site map to Google? If so I think the original site map may have false information that is confusing Google, what can be done to rectify this problem?

Please help
Regards Stuart

Hi Stuart

We do bulk submissions of our published sites. However, you can submit your own site map to Google Webmaster if you like. It might take time for Google to re-index your site. Here are the instructions: (ignore the first section as you have already verified your site)

Go to Google webmaster tools dashboard: https://www.google.com/webmasters/too....
In the field entry box, replace “Click here to add a site” text with your SynthaSite website URL. Enter the full address: http://mynewsite.synthasite.com.

Verify your site:
1. On the next page, you will see the following message : “No pages from your site are currently included in Google's index.” So the first step in the process is to get your website verified. Click on the link: "verify your site"
2. Choose verification method: "add a meta tag". A meta tag will automatically be generated. Copy only the portion in quotes. For example, <!-- "qxMqtg30kboZFHeAyBayL0nF7tiqOTK4lSV8OdzQ+AU=" --> is the only portion you need of the following meta tag:
,<!-- <meta name="verify-v1" content="qxMqtg30kboZFHeAyBayL0nF7tiqOTK4lSV8OdzQ+AU=" /> -->
3. Go to your SynthaSite and open it in the Site Builder. Click on the Properties tab in right-hand sidebar. Where you see the empty Google Webmaster Code field, paste the quoted string inside the text entry box. Save the page, and update/republish your website.
4. Go back to Google webmaster tools, and click verify. You should get the following message: "You've successfully verified http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/". Now you are ready to add a Site Map.

Adding a site map to Google Webmaster tools and your site:
1. On Google Webmaster, click on the Site Map option in the left-hand sidebar -> "Add a Site map". Choose "general web site map" from drop-down arrow selection.
2. There are now 3 instruction areas you need to complete.
a) create a site map
b) upload a site map
c) my sitemap URL is: http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/____.

Create a Site Map:
- Click on the following link to get detailed instructions from Google: https://www.google.com/support/webmas...
- Go to your published website. Go to each one of your published pages, and copy and paste the URL for each of your pages as a separate row into a new .txt document, as in example below.
http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/index...
http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/page1...
http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/page2...

Upload a site map (to your site)
- Save the file (it must have the .txt file extension at the end of the filename), then upload it to your SynthaSite website, using the file manager. Save and publish your site.

Upload a site map (to Google Webmaster tools)
- Go back to Google. In the file name entry box that says:
My sitemap URL is: http://yoursitename.synthasite.com/__...
type in the URL your sitemap. This is the name of your sitemap .txt file, preceded by "/resources/" as in the following example:
http://yoursitename.synthasite.com/re...

You should get a confirmation message that says: "You have added http://yoursitename.synthasite.com/re.... Reports may take several hours to update. Thank you for your patience!"

Processing Sitemaps may take some time. Check again later to see if pages from your Site maps are included in Google's index. On the Google Webmaster Tools Site maps page: If everything has gone correctly, eventually you will see the status column say "OK"

Let me know if this corrects your problem.

Well done Monique! thats sorted the problem.
I had created a sitemap but I had saved it on my index page as a txt file. Google didnt like it there.
So listen up everyone "Monique's the top dog, and I won't hear a bad word said about her".

Over the last 6 hrs, I built my FIRST website, with absolutely NO previous knowledge of any of the required steps involved. Not only do I have a 16 page site up & rockin, but by following your simple how-to's, our site is confirmed & our sitemap is confirmed & pending! I even used the suggested Google tool to find the best keywords... WOW!!! I'll be telling every one I know!!!

Thank You... http://AGlamorousYou.synthasite.com

Your choice of style suits your topic well. It's easy to navigate, but the home page is perhaps a little cluttered. I'd also remove the "website under construction" from your home page.

On the whole though you've done really well.

I had thought I needed a txt for a sitemap... however I figured out that a xml would work for google webmaster too... it drove me nuts for about a month not being able to do it! I used a sitemap publisher to create one, and I didnt even have to do anything other than type in my url! just search google for one there are lots!
