Hello
this is the problem - Customer comes to our site buys a gift, goes through the process and leaves last minute because in the paypal window (last step) the fields are populated with the recipient's information and not the payee. spoken to paypal and they say this should not be the case. has anybody encountered this? & if you have any idea as to how to solve the problem I will love to hear it.
I think this is a big problem. transaction is not smooth and straight forward does not look professional and spooks customers away.
we are thinking of moving to e-path but before we do, we want to make sure we cover all the possible answers.
thx

Hello Alvaro,

I have not experienced this.
May I just clarify some definitions? payee and recipient?

If it's giving the wrong persons details then this sounds like a Store configuration issue. I suggest for testing that you switch on PayPal sandbox and take it through a couple of payments and see what happens after the transaction goes to the next step. Your account won't be billed on these sandbox transactions until you turn it back to normal.

I know some of the PayPal subscriptions can delay details on the first level but not really sure how this would affect such a transaction that I think you are describing

Payee is the person making the purchase
Receipient is the peson who is receiving the purchase (gift)

This is an exmaple
Jonh whi lives in city A buys a gift onlie for Mary whi is city B
When jonh goes to pay the paypal fields have Mary's information in it.

This data is coming from the shopping cart.
Buy - shipping address - buyer addreess (if different frm the shipping) - paypal - end.

I agree this may have to do with the configuration and perhaps is in the way paypal is setup with yola the question is how to change this?

will take you advise and use sanbox to test.

Thanks for clarifying this for me Alvaro.

I have found a thread in the Ecwid forum discussing similar issues which you may wish to read and some offered solutions. http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthrea.... It's a bit of a read but has good explanations of a situation.

Coincidentally there is a similar thread on today's Yola GS forum earlier. The issue there is including a message in the transaction for the recipient. I have yet to work this one out with an easy solution :(

Thank you for the thread, I have read it in detail an unfortunately the problem there is not the same as ours. We did have a similar issue at the beginning but that was taken care of.
Our current problem is I am afraid a bit more complicated.
thx
