What's the best and most exonomical way to create a business website including personalised Domain and hosting?
I currently have a FREE website with Yola but want to purchase a personalised Domain which in the past I was able to buy elsewhere and transfer for free.
Now the rules have changed...

Hello Marcela,

I think the best way to do this is to buy Bronze hosting and a domain from Yola. the domain (.com or other specific types) is about the same cost as competitors.

There are deals from other registrars for domains periodically and if this is important you can buy from another source and point your site to Yola.

Economically a 12 month contract for the hosting is the best deal. If you need or want to upgrade to Silver plan Yola will allow the upgrade with no penalty as yet.

There are a number of add-ons at a price but none are essential for function of your site. They just add functionality as you wish.

Thank you. What if I have purchased a domain from somewhere else? If I upgrade to Bronze or Silver with Yola, can I transfer it over somehow?? Is there a delay with this??

You do need Bronze or Silver to play with personal domains. So that's a given.

You can transfer the domain you own from your previous registrar but there will be an immediate cost I think being the same price as a year of registration. (Thereafter I believe there's no charge for the subsequent year?) It also takes a period of time for this to go through and you can't use the domain in the transfer period. The how to: Transferring your domain to Yola

The easiest and by far the quickest way is to simply point your domain with your accounts DNS management facility, wherever, to Yola's servers. See Publishing to a domain you already own

Thank you for your answers, Gop. You are right about the charge for the subsequent year. People will never be charged double for a domain registration period, so the price we charge for the transfer will count for the first new subscription year with Yola. For example, when you transfer your domain to us, but the registration period with your old registrar hasn't expired and would still be running for another 4 months, you will not be charged for these 4 months with Yola. Yola will charge you the annual price for your domain, but you will be able to run your doman with us for 1 year and 4 months until we charge you next for renewal.
