Hello,
Have you configured your domain name to point towards Synthasite? You will need to edit your A Record from your account with your domain name registrar. Let me know if you have not done this yet and I will give you instructions.

Hi PhasePhoto,

If you have a domain name that you have purchased somewhere else, you will need to set up that domain name to point to SynthaSite.

We have a tutorial outlining the steps to configuring your domain, giving two popular domain name registrars as examples: http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/p...

There are also instructions on how to use ZoneEdit if your domain name registrar does not provide you with domain name management. However, most domain name registrars can assist you with an A record, in which case you would not need to use a third party service like ZoneEdit.

These are general instructions on how to configure your domain to point to SynthaSite. If you require specific help with the interface of your domain name registrar, please contact them for support.

How to configure a domain name you already own:

1. Log in to your chosen domain registrar (eg. GoDaddy.com, Register.com).
2. Go to the DNS Management page.
3. Set up an A Record.
4. The IP address of your record must point to: "208.75.208.172"

Please note that it can take up to 48 hours (although usually less) for these changes to take effect and you need to contact your domain registrar if you need help in that regard. Feel free to forward any instructions you receive from them to us so that we can advise you further.

Once you have configured your DNS settings, click the yellow "Publish My Site" button in SynthaSite, "I already own a domain name". Fill in your domain name and follow the prompts to publish your site. If you have any difficulty with this please let us know.

Once your site is published to your domain the hard part is over and you will be able to edit your site and then update it with a single click.

Please feel free to get back to us if you need more help with this.

This is quite a technical process, but we will help you as much as we can.

We have a tutorial that outlines the steps using two popular domain registrars: http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/p...

You need to set up an Address Record to point to our IP address: 208.75.208.172

Your domain registrar should be able to assist you with this. However, if you are stuck drop us an email and we will do what we can from our side to help you.

OMG!!!! The guy is asking such a simple question (which is mine also) and your replies are so complicated. I have no idea what you're talking about. He never said that he had a domain name from somewhere else. He simply built a website in good faith, believing in the ease of simply pressing the green publish button that his free website would be found on the internet when he types his URL into his browser. I don't understand all the other comments on this website that praise yola for being so easy.

Hello tovasaul. The answer to the question depends on where the domain (your address for your website) was bought.

If it was purchased through Yola then there is no setting up to do. Just simply pressing the Green Button and selecting the address which will appear as an option to publish.

If the address was bought somewhere else then this has to be configured so that the domain is pointing to Yola. The various Registrars of internet web domains have differing consoles to make these chnages. The Yola support people identified the registrar by a specific search and were able then to give specific instructions. If this all becomes too hard then you can communicate with your registrar and ask for help in setting this up.

If you don't have a domain pre-purchased and you don't wish to buy one then you can use what is called a yolasite subdomain

Thank you, but I never purchased a domain, and never had one before. When I published the website, I clicked on the free option. Shouldn't that result in my website popping up when I type in the URL in the browser?

The name you refer to is a choice made by yourself. There are no pop-up options simply type the name.

At that point you type in a name that you wish to have for your subdomain . The system will automatically append ".yolasite.com" to the end of that name.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. But when I type www.israelunleashed@yolasite.com -------instead of bringing me to my website, a box pops up asking me if I really want this "because it might be trying to trick me", and then you have a choice of yes or no, and if you pick, then it directs you to Yola.

Try typing "israelunleashed", No need to type "www." or "@yolasite.com"

Your website address will then be : "israelunleashed.yolasite.com"

You're so nice to try to help me like this. I appreciate it. I tried typing israelunleashed into the browser, and it just goes to a google search for the words Israel unleashed.

Good news it is published:

Type "israelunleashed.yolasite.com" into your browser and you should be famous :)

israelunleashed.yolasite.com is your website address and not israelunleashed. If yiou iwsh to have "israelunleashed.com" then you will need to buy that domain, if it is available.

This is not the first time that I've done totally idiotic things. I was typing israelunleashed@yolasite.com

And here I've been fuming at poor yola!

Thank you so much!
