Am very new to all of this, however have found this site fantastic for designing my own website. However, i have bought a domain name from crazy domains as I needed a .com.au web address, Now Im having trouble connecting the two. I type in my web address and it goes straight to Crazy Domains with "This domain name is registered and parked" I want to put it in first gear and get my website up and running, not park it.
Do I need to pay for DNS hosting at Crazy Domains for this to work?
Please help!!

Hi Lee,

You can host your site with SynthaSite for free. We have a tutorial outlining the steps to configuring your domain, giving two popular domain name registrars as examples: Using a Domain Name not purchased through SynthaSite - http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/p...

There are also instructions on how to use ZoneEdit if your domain name registrar does not provide you with domain name management. However, most domain name registrars can assist you with an A record, in which case you would not need to use a third party service like ZoneEdit.

These are general instructions on how to configure your domain to point to SynthaSite. If you require specific help with the interface of your domain name registrar, please contact them for support.

How to configure a domain name you already own:

1. Log in to your chosen domain registrar (eg. GoDaddy.com, Register.com).
2. Go to the DNS Management page.
3. Set up an A Record.
4. The IP address of your record must point to: "208.75.208.172"

Please note that it can take up to 48 hours (although usually less) for these changes to take effect and you need to contact your domain registrar if you need help in that regard. Feel free to forward any instructions you receive from them to us so that we can advise you further.

Once you have configured your DNS settings, click the yellow "Publish My Site" button in SynthaSite, "I already own a domain name". Fill in your domain name and follow the prompts to publish your site.

If you have all ready published your website to a Synthasite subdomain and have purchased a custom domain name elsewhere, please follow these instructions once you have configured your domain to point towards Synthasite:

1. Log in to your account and open the site in the Site Builder
2. Click on the down arrow next to "Update My Site"
3. Click on "Publishing Settings" and then "Manage Your Domains"
5. Remove your subdomain (top)
6. Enter your new domain in the area labeled "Domain You All Ready Own"
7. Click Save
8. Click Republish Your Site

If you have any difficulty with this please let us know.

Once your site is published to your domain the hard part is over and you will be able to edit your site and then update it with a single click.

Hey Kershnee's,
Crazy Domain has told me i need from you the following(pasted from their email to me):

As sythasite.com hosts your web site, please can you contact them to get the name servers and update them in your domain management.

Plus they added this:

By the way, we suspect they cannot provide you the name servers. If this is an issue, we would like to recommend you to get the DNS Hosting with us to redirect your domain name to sythasite.com

Of course I will have to pay them for DNS hosting, so if you can help me with these it should all work fine.

Does anyone else have a 'Crazy Domain' domain name? This could help me too.
Thank you so much for your patience with me.

Hi Lee,

SynthaSite does not have name servers as we are not the managers of your domain, we simply host your site.

If your domain name registrar does not provide you with domain name management and if they will allow you to transfer your domain you can make use of the services of ZoneEdit - http://www.zoneedit.com/ They offer free domain name management and users in your situation have used them successfully to set up their sites with us.

Please take a look at zoneedit and get back to me if you have any difficulty setting up what you need. We have a really useful tutorial outlining the steps to getting your domain: Using a Domain Name not purchased through SynthaSite - http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/p...
