Website not allowing itself to be altered, and getting error message when publishing??

My website keeps saying an error has occurred when I try and update it. Anyone else had this problem? There is hardly anything changed and it should work as it did before...

*** What is really weird is that when i go to edit page design, it says changing the banner etc it 'not supported by this style', yet it actually is, and was just earlier today..?

Please help. Should I just restart my computer and try again?

Thanks!

Edit: It still will update if I change nothing, but I cannot put anything new on and then update/publish it (just trying to put a sample picture on the home page), thats when I get the error.

Still saying I cannot edit banner image etc.... its the flower shop layout.

The domain name was bought through Yola for the $19.95 fee, so it shouldn't be the domain that is the problem

The same thing happens to me now. (except the update issue)

So do you have this issue when you try to update a style which is acting incorrectly.... Have you try'd to go back to the original style of the site and edit/update that?

When i reported this issue the Yola team put it down to CSS conflicts on my pages. Do you have any custom CSS added to your pages?

I would reccommend reverting to the style that used to work fine.

I didnt edit anything. I think I tried to put on a html button with the html widget and thats when it all started going wrong. But that is not editing the main CSS template of the site, so not sure why it would cause a problem.

Thanks for your reply by the way

Are you able to delete the html widget and see if that helps?

I was not refering to the main CSS template sometimes people add custom CSS to the page - but if this is not the case with you maybe the html is not correct.

Try and remove it see if that helps.

PS - leave your URL and i'll take a look at the page source.

Also check if you have the same issues on the original style of the site.

I had removed and re added and removed it was really weird. I even tried setting it to a different template, same problems occured. I really hadn't done much to the site so I just wiped it clean and restarting it now... I just really hope nothing like this happens when the site HAS had a lot of work done to it

Thanks for your help :)

Yes I can now have the option of changing the banner after deleting the site and starting a new site with the same template

Any custom code in any language can potentially cause a problem.

Only ever add code from very trust worthy sources.

Its also a very good idea to have a test site (in the same template style) which you can test custom code on before you add it to your main site.

If HTML or javascript's are written incorrectly or if custom CSS conflicts with the pages main CSS it can cause unknown problems.

Test sites are your best friend.

Hope this helps. Lee.

Hi Will,

We've had someone else report the same error with the Flowershop style - I'm asking engineers to investigate and we'll post as soon as we have an update.

Apologies for the issue, I know it must be frustrating.

Google Chrome's not yet support by Yola (list of supported browsers here: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...) - could you try in Firefox and let us know if the same problem is evident?

@ Lee - the problem with saving in the Flowershop style or that changing banner/backgrounds were no longer available? If it's the first, it's a bug we're working on. If it's the second, is it still happening for you and could you let me know which site in your account has the problem?

Marije, As soon as i saw the banners and backgrounds were not working correctly i changed back to cleanslate asap. I was scared :)

Nor am i willing to test it.

It was Hexham.info which had the problem and it happens now in more than just flower shop.

The only thing that has changed on the source of my page is the new addition of the Yola banner and Yola links CSS at the bottom of the page... must have something to do with that.
