Hey guys, you've helped me great the last few times. You were always fast and very helpful when I encourted some problems... Well here's my next problem: My 1-year Silver subsription expired. I directly purchased another year, because I can't afford it to have my site offline. Well, the process was succesfully finished. But my website is still unreachable! PLEASE tell me that it's just a matter of time and I didn't do anything wrong!?

Hi Wouter

We can take a look at your problem to see why it is still unreachable. What is the name of your website?

Hello Wouter,

It appears that your domain expired on 2011-10-25. While we are able to recover it up to a month afterward, unfortunately there's nothing we can do to restore it at the moment.

It will go through a deletion process at the registrar, and then will be offered back up for purchase once it is available. Regardless of where you register your domain, the domain registrar only has a 30 day window in which to retrieve lapsed domains.

This is to protect users who let their domains lapse in error while still keeping the process moving forward to prepare domains for sale again.

Your only option at this stage is to wait for the domain to be released and then repurchase it. To do this, you will first need to unpublish your site by following the steps on this link: How to unpublish your site.

You can check if your domain is available and repurchase it by following these steps: Buying your domain from Yola.

Could you let me know if you received the renewal reminders for this domain? If not, please come back to me so that I can try and investigate why you did not receive them.

Hey Sanja,

Well, I do remember receiving an e-mail reminder.
But I don't remember seeing ANY notification or whatever about this 30-days system, and I'm actually realy disappointed.

When you say 'repurchase', do you mean I have to buy another product of your company to actually get what I just ordered? So my 42,95 eruo spent on Yola Silver is actually just thrown away right now?

I'm sorry, I shouldn't be impolite...
I spent 42,95 euro's for extending my .com domain, and it didn't happen, is it really necessary for me to repurchase a domain?

I'm a bit confused, hope you guys could help me out a bit more

Hi Wouter,

Thanks for your reply. I am hoping to clear the air a bit for you! What you renewed was your Yola Silver package. With the renewal you are able to continue with the premium styles, custom css, premium support and much more. Feel free to view the entire Silver FAQs here: Yola Silver.

We have recently changed our packages and the Yola Silver package no longer includes a domain credit.

This being said, you will be able to purchase a domain for a very reduced cost. It is advisable that you maintain your Silver package so that you can publish your custom domain to the web.

The reason we are encouraging you to purchase a new domain is because your previous domain www.heel-de-mens.com will be going through a few stages before it is available for repurchase. You are always welcome to publish to a free Yola subdomain for the time being as well, if you would like.

I hope this helps, Wouter. Please let us know if you need any further clarification.

Hey Brianna,

Thanks for your reply, the air has indeed been cleared by your reply.
I am disappointed that I am not told about some sort of 'package change', but I guess there's nothing we could do about it...

*sigh* okay, so I tried repurchasing my domain, to see how much more money I need to spend to get my site up and running again, resulting in this error:

I've got a few questions

- So is this what you guys warned me about? That my domain needs to go through a few stages before it is available for repurchase?

- How do I upload my site to a Yola subdomain while it's already linked to a .com domain?

- When uploaded to a subdomain, my clients won't be able to visit my site through the www.heel-de-mens.com domain. This means that my flyers which I printed some time ago, is actually completely useless, because when people go to the domain mentioned on the flyer, they end up completely nowhere. What do I do!?

- Could you guys please ask your hosting-service to redirect my domain-visitors to the subdomain that I will then create (as mentioned in question 2), so that my problem (mentioned in question 3) would be solved until my domain is available for repurchase?

It would mean a lot for me if you guys could accomplish some kind of solution like that for me!

Kind regards,
Wouter van Weert

Hi, Wouter,

Yes, your domain is in what they call the redemptionperiod which actually means no one can purchase it. This can take some time before it is offered again for purchase. You can just keep checking for availability.

To use a subdomain, you will need to first unpublish it.
Click on the Site > Site Settings > Publishing.
Select "Un-publish Site".
Type "Unpublish" to confirm this action, and click "Unpublish Site".
After your site has been unpublished, select "Publish Site".
Choose your new subdomain and click "Next".

I'm sorry but there is not a way to redirect to the subdomain. As the domain is expired, there is nothing to redirect. I wish I had a solution for you but unfortunately, there is nothing to do but wait.

Okay, so I uploaded my website to your subdomain. It is now reachable for people who know the new domain (noone).

Could you guys give me any indication about how long this would take? What are we talking about here? Days? Weeks?

Hello Wouter van Weert,

It can take up to a few months for the domain to be released for repurchase.

We are still on our Christmas break. So, if you have any further issues or questions, I suggest holding off until January 2, 2012 as that is the earliest we will be able to get back to you. I hope you enjoy the rest of your Christmas holidays and have a Happy New Year!
