Hello Rob,

The best way to do it would depend on the number of different products that you are selling.

I presume that because you are a gift shop you have more than 100 items in your inventory? The Yola Online Store is a good solution . It's certainly efficient and hopefully reasonable in cost in your consideration.

If you already have a Yola Silver or Bronze hosting plan, then for an extra $10 per month you can subscribe to the Store facility. This allows you to keep up to 1000 items in your catalogue. If you don't have a subscription for a Yola hosting plan then the store-subscription/hosting package costs ~$20 per month

The store configuration is very open and allows virtually any shipping system to be used and you can use one or a number of Payment gateways. There is no additional commission charged by Yola for successful sales. Nothing unexpected at all with reference to costs. You would be best to also buy a domain which is approx $12 per year registration and it is completely in your name.

Configuring your store is a learning curve but there is good support through this forum, Yola Support and *Ecwid Knowledge Base and Support Forum. Populating your store is quite easy. One thing though that I think is important to be aware of in the very early days is the packed weight of each item ready to ship. The estimate of weight is used by the store both for shipping cost estimates and to differentiate virtual products from physical products. An image of each product is important for your sales and you can have as many supplementary images as you wish for each product item.

If you need additional info or if you are looking for another alternative just ask away.

*Ecwid are the creators of the Yola Online Store and Yola have setup a partnership with Ecwid for this purpose.

It can be so Rob,

If you have less that 100 items then your best option would be subscribe to the online store directly through Ecwid http://ecwid.com. This is a free subscription and is the identical product. The initial configuration is different but not difficult at all and Ecwid have a Video describing and instructing you with the process.

The store appears identical in your web-site. With the Ecwid native product you don't use the Yola sitebuilder to add or update products or nayhting to do with the continued maintenance of the store. Just the inital installation which is a once only procedure. Copying and pasting some HTML code from Ecwid into an HTML widget on a page or pages of your site.

As far as your Yola account I would definitely use a hosting plan rather than Yola free subscription because this allows you to use a custom domain which is important I believe for credibility and the perception of reliability by e-com shoppers. As mentioned above Yola offer two hosting plans Bronze and Silver.

With the free Ecwid store there is no commission taken by Ecwid on sales. It really is a free subscription absolutely. Your Payment Gateway (eg: PayPal) will take a cut of sales probably ~2% as a ball park figure.

If your product catalogue increased over time to more than 100 items then you would buy a subscription to the Yola Online Store because this then is cheaper than the Ecwid subscription ($10 per month Yola and I think $17 or so per month through Ecwid themselves). You would download your catalogue into a file, create your Yola Online Store and then upload your saved catalogue into the created Yola Online Store.

A person I worked with recently building his online store in the UK has built 2 stores. One of his stores is: http://rammygenerators.co.uk

It gives you a sense of a local use of the store and how he set it out. He uses the Ecwid free subscription for the reason that his catalogue is well below 100 items at this stage.

No I don't know the deals at all Rob, not being a Yola employee. These coupon deals vary a lot so if you need to relocate it again, and can't find it, send off a quick note to support@yola.com and the support people will happily help you out with this. I think that Laura Thomas may also see this very soon and be able to pick up the request and if she doesn't know from the top of her head then she's the ideal person to find it for you. (Laura is the epitome of professionalism in Yola's customer service structure. She walks the extra mile or ten)

That's so kind of you to say Gop. You are correct, we have some partnerships and discounts available but none of them include a 50% discount for Yola Silver on a monthly payment plan.

Rob, the promotions we run tend to apply to annual membership. Is it possible you are thinking of our Bronze plan for $4.95 a month?
