Well I was wondering are you going to keep your Google site? It is good to keep it and add links to it pointing to your new site...Helps build Page Rank...You are going to end up with one very long home page with comments where you have them....Or do you plan on deleting them every so often?

I do plan on keeping my Goggle site, it was my first.....I feel a bit nostalgic towards it, like my first boyfriend........LOL
As for the comments, I would delete every so often unless you have other suggestions! Thanks John.

Excellent site. Some great recipe ideas. I like the way you associate food with memories, and especially the memory of your mother. A website is a great way to pass on the family traditions and Egyptian cuisine.

Hello Rizan22

I perused your site and you have done a wonderful job of setting it up.

There are a few suggestions that I would make but it's nothing crucial.

1. The recipes you offer are unique and I feel that your site could really benefit from an equally unique banner that showcases what your site is all about. The template you have chosen does not allow for any customizations so this would mean considering something that does such as Tastelessly, or Burlap. This style-guide will give you the templates which are customizable: http://www.yola.com/yola-style-guide. You could make a banner through Picnik and have a few pictures of your recipes in your banner which would make a delectable treat to see!

2. I like consistency - I think it helps to make the site more polished. I noticed on your "Egg" and "Salad" page, you have your recipe list on the left hand column with your picture on the right. This looks very nice! But, on the other pages, your pictures are sometimes on the left or in the center or your recipe list is closer to the bottom. I think it would serve you well to have all your pages in the same layout like your Egg and Salad page.

3. On your "About" page, I would wrap your text around your picture (Now Yola has this wonderful tool which enables you do that through the text widget!). If you prefer having your text beneath your picture, then I would suggest centering your photo on your page.

4. If you would like to make your site a bit more interactive, you could create comment page where people could submit their recipes to you or even just have people's comments about the recipes they've tried on your site.

When I have a bit more time, I'm definitely going to try one of your recipes! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE spicy foods!! =)

hello - nice site, well done

1. The images on your home page could be made smaller (the file size) it will improve load time. (file manager > choose the image > click edit image > resize it in picnik and save it back to Yola.)

2. Add favorite icons (content sidebar > properties > favorite icon)

3. Add a description of the page to your window titles (content sidebar > properites > window title)

I just told someone else these 3 exact things - im starting to repeat myself.

Lee :)

Re 1. There imgaes throughout your site which need resizing not just on the home page - remember when you resize it on the screen it does not resize the original file, you need to goto picnik and resize the file there.

Wow guys, great suggestions thanks!

littleus, I did play a bit with Tastelessly last night and I may end up switching over. Now for the text wrap, that I cant figure out on yola. I will play some more see if I can get it to work. That was my initial intent. As for item 4 the comments area, I do have one are you suggesting puting one on each page or a different type of comments section?

The Duke, I was wondering why the site loads so slowly, I will make adjustments there as well. Now the favorites icons, not really sure what that would be but will also check it out.

Again thanks for the great ideas.

Hello dear Rizan,

It's a fantastic site. It's very clear, very interesting and has great recipes. I had mentioned previously that I had tried your Chakshoka (with extra chillie) and it was just magnificent. Fortunately most of the ingredients that you mention are easily available here so I have no excuse and every reason to work through your recipes. (The other dish that I mentioned I made was Shawarma but I think that I got this from another site as I can't locate it on yours now. )

I am always interested in the relationship of one cuisine to another and I have no knowledge of Egyptian cuisine but see some similarities to other middle eastern cuisines and recipes. For my interest I would like to know this story and wonder if you could add something about this at some stage?

The advice given by Duke, Littleus and John is all good information and worth your consideration for sure.

Your site is at the top of my food bookmarks and I look forward to following your progress.

Hi Rizan,

A "favicon' (Favourites Icon) is that little picture that appears in your address bar of your browser.

If you are using Firefox the easiest way to place it is to go into your builder , say your index page, and in the Properties selection of your sidebar you will see a heading "Favourites Icon". Click the button with the three dots and it will open a dialogue that will allow you to place an image either from your File manager or from your PC. This will then place the "favicon" onto this page. You must repeat this for every page.

If you're using another browser to build your website, please let me know and I will give you another alternative.

Glad to see our ideas helped - it really does take a long time because its a on going process - i figured i would be done building my site in about 2 weeks - 5 months later and its now a constant on going thing - i dont think it will ever be 'finished'.

Always happy to help, Lee.

Hi Rizan

Your site's looking better and better.

Just a coupla more suggestions:

1. On your homepage, you have a photo which is quite large in size. I would suggest making the dimensions smaller so that it fits in your "container". Right now, the right-hand side of your photo is sticking out.

2. Your comments section - sorry Rizan.. I didn't even notice you had it before. It was lost at the bottom of your page before you made the changes. It's more visible now. It may not be a bad idea to maybe have that comment section moved to a comment page? As your comments get more lengthy, it'll just stretch out the look of your homepage. Something to consider. =)
Also, reflecting on your question about having a comment on each page earlier - I see you've already implemented this! It's actually not a bad idea as this may give you feedback for a specific recipe.

3. Lastly, your banner. I hope you don't mind.. but I took the liberty of creating a banner for you! You don't have to use it but I just wanted to show you what you could do!

Hi Rizan

You will need to remake the banner to change the color of the font. I assume you wanted the text darker? Here you go! =)

You can make your own banner if you wish to change the pictures, etc... on Picnik. The homepage looks great!
