Hi Sarah,

When you own a domain name, your contact details are publicly disclosed via the WHOIS database. With private registration, we place alternate information in the public database—so only relevant messages are forwarded. Your personal information is protected and your junk email is reduced.

Private registration :

Protect Your Personal Information - The information you want to keep private is kept out of the public WHOIS database. Protect Your Domain Name Registration - Gives you full control and standing as registrant over the domain names in your account, unlike “proxy” services. If you want to check your whois data enabled or gets hided by using http://www.whoisxy.com/
