RSS can mean Really Simple Syndication. It's a protocol that allows for sending and receiving data on the internet. Typically it is used by news agents to send their newsfeed around the world. Others simply have to know the URL of the feed and link it to a news reader.

Ordinary people can link their blogs to an RSS feed provided by their hosts. Your blog will go out on its own RSS feed with its own URL. If a friend or other person wants to read your blog they can simply subscribe to this RSS feed. It is automatic and they don't have to go to your web-site to read the blog.

News readers are available everywhere. Typically Microsoft Outlook, FireFox, IE Google Reader are good examples of commonly available readers.

The process to link to a feed is to go to an RSS Docking point, Right Click their mouse, Copy the link. Then go to their reader. Locate the Add feed facility on their reader. Left click and Paste the copied RSS URL into the reader. Then it's all automatic.

Each time a new Blog is posted, within 30 minutes (typically) the RSS feed will be sent throughout the internet. and be available for reading.

I hope this gives you an idea of what it is and how it's used. Please get back if you want more information or specific details of how to set it up.
